I was wondering if anyone with mad Photoshop Skillz can help me.
I need to figure out how to make a transparent .gif with Photoshop. I usually use Paint shop Pro, but I'm trying to teach myself to use Photoshop more. This transparent .gif thing has me aggravated!
Can anyone help me out?
PS. I know it's probably something really simple. But please refrain from pointing & laughing until after I'm gone. thanks
Start PhotoShop
Click File>New...
Change the background contents to transparent, click ok,
Draw anything you want.
Click File>Save as...
Change the File Format to CompuServe GIF (*.GIF) Click Save
And be sure that the transparency check box is checked..
Click ok, then ok again...

Notice, that not in all versions of Adobe Photoshop you can make tranceparent background. For sure you can do it in Photoshop CS and Photoshop CS2. If your version doesn't support transparent GIF creating function, you can use Ulead GIF Animator. This program makes transparent background from background color, that you must exclude. Excluded color dissapears on the picture.
In this program you can also create animations and optimisation of your pictures.
You don't really have to be a photoshop god to answer your question imo.
Also you can think about the .png format. It has such better quality.
Well you can save with the SAVE FOR WEB option. Withing there all the options are available. You can see how much a (GIF well thats what you need for transperancy or PNG ) siezes in any format . You can have the 2up , 4up view and compare different qualities. and for transparent images you first need to have a transparent background as our friend mentioned above and then save it in either GIF or PNG format but GIF is the most common format for the trasparent pictures.
One thing with transparent PNG is that IExplorer will put some blue background under it, so it wont be transparent anymore. I had to use gif on my site.

I was just going to say that lol thats how i do it and he put it down to point
I use the save for web dialog. And if you want to animate it you might want to call ImageReady from Photoshop.
doesn a few options come out after you save as GIF? what options do you need to click on?
