Windows XP on an Intel Mac

My MacBook is shipping on the 15th of February. I told my boss that this would replace my IBM desktop and I could boot Windows XP on it. I am still confident it can be done. I am pledging $100 of my own money and offering anyone else who would like the instructions on how to Dual boot these two operating systems the ability to donate some of their money into the pot as a reward for the person / group that can make dual-booting Mac OS X and Windows XP happen on an Intel Mac. Good Luck,

The Rules
1. Instructions must boot Windows XP (at least), not Vista or any other version of Windows.
2. Windows must be able to coexist with Mac OS X and each system may not interfere with the operation of the other (basically a traditional dual boot system where one OS is running at a time)
3. Your method, upon starting the computer, must offer the user to boot either OS X or Windows XP (hint: GRUB)
4. The first person to email complete instructions, including pictures of the boot process to will be the winner. Instructions will be peer reviewed once they are received and once the solution is guaranteed working, the prize money will be transferred via paypal
5. You give this website the rights to post your solution
6. If it is determined impossible to boot Windows on the Mac by March 23, 2006, all donations will be donated to a charitable cause (please send suggestions to If you donated prior to 2006/01/23 2:10pm CST, and you do not wish to donate to charity, I will return your money minus the paypal fee
7. You cannot use virtualization software such as Xen or VMWare
[critic-mode] just some other guy who will run off with your money once he gets enough of it [/critic-mode]

reminds me of smashmyxbox etc.... there were rumours floating about that those guys actually smashed just the case of the xbox or whatever... internals were fine, only case was smashed... made a crapload of money too apart from the free xbox/360/ps2 and soon to be ps3
Good luck with contest.
It will be hard to run Windows XP on new Intel based Mac. New Mac does'nt have BIOS (BIOS is required for Windows). Maybe solution is to somehow simulate BIOS work and then try to install windows....
You should all check I saw an offer yesterday: 6000$ for anyone who gets it done. That raises the suspection it can't be done Wink
wow its cool
It's probably possible, but with the whole BIOS issue, I have to wonder how difficult it would be.
wouldnt you be able to partion the hard drives, putting a operating system on each and make a GUI app or something that just lets you choose which one to boot in? Im not going to try, but it cant be that hard
it would be very difficult to emulate BIOS to an OS... not sure if it can be done with xp (though vista will support emi (whats on the intelmacs)
Why don't we buy OSX and try it on Windows based PC. Might be easier
Surely there are programs that can be run on XP that can edit the BIOS and therefore it is possible that a BIOS could be emulated in as OS?
it might be installed, but it will be awhile before in runs smooth. This may be the beginning of the end (unfortunately) for mac. I doubt their machines will be running as smooth when they open up the market on their hardware.
