blog vs. forum

In another topic, it came to my attention that I do not know the difference between a blog and a forum. What I am attempting to do is replicate the features of a friend's homepage (http://www.welcometotheadventure.com/phpnuke/index.php .)
Isn't that a blog? What I want to be able to do is to post updates to a previous post with the original post remaining completely available. I think the homepage I mentioned would give this flexibility. It seems he adds commentary as a new addendum. Each addition is monitored as a statistically independent element of the page.

It's a CMS (content management system), but you can use it for a blog, if you want.

Its much a blog, managed by a CMS. Not a forum for sure, even though i found one link to his forums.

Basically, what you're posting in now is a forum. Anyone can start topics, and other people reply to the topics. In a blog/CMS, there is usually one main author, and they write all the content. Other people can write comments on the content.

Hopefully, that clears it up for you.

Just think of a Blog as your personal diary that you're letting everyone else read.
