I think Janica Kostelic is the best in women skiing ever.
Let's look at the stats:
Janica Kostelic is 24 and hails from Croatia. She won three gold medals in 2002 and a silver medal. She also won the World Cup in 2001 and 2003 for a total of 25 world cup wins in various events (Slalom, Combined, Giant Slalom, Super-G, Downhill). She's come back from knee injuries at least twice to perform at worldclass level.
Anja Sofia Tess Pärson is almost 25 and she was born in Sweden. She won bronze & silver medals in 2002 and won the Alpine Skiing World Cup in 2004 and 2005 beating Janica. She definately doesn't have as many total world cup wins but she's performing at a much higher level in recent years.
I think ultimately, the veteran will beat the rising star. However, next Olympics is all Anja.
I don't think so.
Janica beat Anja in several last competitons. She is in better form. Janica main discipline is slalom, but this year she's great in all disciplines.
Anja has big selfcontrol problem couse she failed in few last competitions.
Today Janica Kostelic wrote history page again. After today winning in slalom (Ofterschwang, Germany), she become one of three skiing ever who won in all disciplines in one season!!!
Same thing does only Marco Girardelli and Petra Kromberger.
Janica was great today. She has 1.33 seconds better time then second placed Kathrin Zettel.
Anja Pearson drop off in trying to cach Janica's time in second run.
I support the Swede. Go nordic teams!
