Artificial / Modified Food
The steak in a dish is fed by providing nutrients. This can be an unlimited source of food, especially for nutritionally deprived countries.

genetically modifed foods are enhanced to remove seeds, remove/add flavours etc. Issues include toxicology, nutrition etc.
single cell protein is protein which is naturally produced from bacteria using substrates like petroleum, or waste products.

technically speaking, we've been modifying food for hundreds of years.... its just now we're getting much better at it. As far back as 3000 B.C Indians in peru discovered that different types of potatoes grew better at 14,000 feet than at 10,000 feet,so they divided the potatoes into groups that grew better at different hieghts... we also crossbredd different plants and animals to achieve different results that we found desirable...
I see nothing wrong with it in itself. Buty i do think more attention shoult be payed to the consequences of doing it, especially in our deliecate ecosystem.
For example... you create a type of plant that resists bugs... that reduces the bug population... which reduces the bird population that fed off the bugs etc.... its a domino effect whenever we change something..

Okay, so in all honesty, I have to agree with the comment that we have modified food for some time, because we have. And really it is for the better, to give us more of it, because we are a growing planet and our food source needs to grow with us.
Genetically modified food isn't evil or anything, it is just made to get the most out of everything is all.

no... it cant' be good...
I don't know about this....
Might cause negative bodily effects in the future, so needs alot - ALOT - of testing.

i would not compare cross breeding with genetically modified foods. personally it scares me and I'm glade Europe still has pretty tight restrictions on it.
I presonally do not object in genetically modified food but the consequnces and results are important. I have heard that some types of modifications has nothing to do with how good the produced grain will be for humans but are just done to increase the volume of production. Similarly, some modications are done to grow the crop out of the season. There are modifications to enrich food for human consumption but the type of mutated protein or other deitery elements do not match as good with the genes of humans and may cause deseases in the long term.
I am not sure how much of this is true but among people related to agriculture who I know, genetically engineered seeds and fertilizers are only considered in the equation to maximize profit.

Well put and I agree. If they can modify something so that it would be better for you, that would be great. But sometimes they just do it so that it looks better, and one can never trust whether it will be good or bad for you. I usually go for the path of least resistance, and try not to eat radiated or genetically modified foods. As much as I can avoid them, as no doubt we consume these foods sometimes without knowing we are. For example, how are we to know that the farm next door that does not genetically alter its crops, get polinated by the farm next to it that does. No guarantees.
