Do you have a hardware modem? A hardware modem is more likely to be an external one - a lot of modems that come with Windows-Based PCs are software modems.
If yours is a software modem, it's unlikely that Linux will recognize it and therefore won't be able to use it. If the problem you're experiencing is that Ubuntu doesn't find your modem, it's likely that you'll need to buy an external one.
Hi ALL!
I too have the same doubt about how to establish a dialup connection in a ubantu linux. My modem too has no driver CD. In windows its never an issue about the driver CD. Dunno about linux. Can some one help it out..
Internal Modems are not supported by most of the linux version. Get an external modem soon, it doesn't cost much.
Is there also a problem with usb DSL modem in Linux?
