Help With POP3 Accounts.

What does your POP3 server expect to receive in a USER request? For example im setting up some POP3 software and when i go to request new mail i get a POP3 error says "pop3user" -err Invaild Arguments.

However every aspect of the software works just fine even with the error message i still recieve my mail ect.

Since you seem to be technical, I'll give you some examples.

If you're using your default email address, then it is just your cPanel or DirectAdmin username.
Code:

+OK Hello there.
USER daniel15
+OK Password required.
PASS **************
+OK logged in.
list
+OK POP3 clients that break here, they violate STD53.
1 1846
2 1358
3 1358
(and so on)
.

QUIT
+OK Bye-bye


Connection to host lost.

(why the POP3 server says 'Bye-bye' is beyond me Wink)

If you're instead using an account you've added manually, the USER is the whole email address:

+OK Hello there.
USER test [--at--] daniel15 -(dot)- be (obviously, you'd have a real email address here)
+OK Password required.
PASS *********
+OK logged in.
LIST
+OK POP3 clients that break here, they violate STD53.
.
QUIT
+OK Bye-bye.

(NOTE: I edited the email address above, so spambots don't get it. You'd need to enter it the proper way.)
Alternatively, instead of using the email address (in this case, test [-at-] daniel15 --[dot]-- be, you can use any of these:

or

USER test%daniel15.be

Some email clients don't like the '@' symbol in the username.

Ok thanks that was most helpful Wink See that was my problem i did not know that your main account only needed to send the name and this is where i was recieving my errors at Smile for other pop3 accounts i have it sending the whole e-mail address and guess what no more errors Smile Thanks again i appreciate the help
