HTML Tutorail made by me

lockwolf
I have decided to spend some time working on a html tutorial on my website and I just finished the first basic HTML page. I was wondering if some people would read over it and tell me what you think of it.

The page is located here: http://lockwolf.be/?page_id=10

(Note: If this goes over well, I will move on and write more tutorials)

1. You shouldn't recommend notepad. Notepad screws scripts up on linux. If I'm not wrong, it ends lines with only \r and not \r\n, so new lines won't show up on linux.

Notepad can edit files of almost any format; however, it does not treat Unix-style text files correctly (see newline)

You should be recommending something like NotePad++, Wordpad ( although I don't recmomend it ), Crimson Editor ( I was using this until I had problems with it, DLL errors, a good editor still ), or Context.

2. Instead of "This is my webpage", use the traditional "Hello World!" message.

Also, teach XHTML compliancy.

Code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

Wink.

Just some comments, not whacking you in anyway.

Not bad, but your article is highly unstructured. You might want to learn how write structured entries into your blog, especially if they're tutorials. It'll add a level of professionalism and credibility to your tutorials. Smile

EDIT: Oh, by structured, I mean a intro paragraph, a few body paragraphs, and a "closing statement".

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try and fix the things you have told me about.
