I like phpbb because it's so easy to install, mod, & make themes.

I like PHPBB because it is simple to install, free, and programmable. It suits every need I need (knead on it).
And anything with PHP is good because I like that.

I've found phpBB to be more reliable in terms of usability than other forum types such as the Inivision Power Board.
The Inivision Power Board seems to have problems correctly marking topics as read even after you've read them. I found that unless I read the topic, then went back to the subforum, then went back to the forum homepage in that order, stuff wasn't marked as read.
I've had far fewer problems with phpBB, it's used more widely (so is more familliar to users), and I just like it better. It's cleaner, more straight-forward and more reliable in my experience.
