I wrote this following Justin Kemp's three missed catches against Australia in the VB Cricket Series. Comment on if you like it or not...
South Africans can’t catch
It’s official – the South African Cricket Team can’t catch. This was revealed in the VB Series where Australia took on South Africa. The South Africans missed a whopping four catches in the match, which cost them dearly. Although their bowling was better than average (either that, or Australia’s batting was just crap), as they displayed with getting Hayden and McGrath out for ducks, and leaving Gilchrist with a measly 6 runs, their catching was horrible. They could’ve sealed the game from the near start if they didn’t miss those four catches, but they suck, so what can you do?
In the match a few days after, which teamed South Africa against Sri Lanka (who are currently leading the series), a long-awaited catch was made from the South African side by Justin Kemp, who had missed three catches the day earlier. When the ball was hit high up in the air, the commentator, Ian Healy, said, “that’s in the air,” but, when he saw it was headed towards Justin Kemp added, “and this’ll be dropped”. Fortunately, for the South African team, it wasn’t. Closer investigation revealed blind luck.
The main catch-dropper was Justin Kemp from the, of course, South African side, who missed three catches against Australia. Attached below are some pictures of his not-so-finest moments, caught on film:
Funny enough, he managed to drop the last one...
