Linking

I use folders for my website, but whenever I try to link from, say news/news.html to index.html, it just tries to go to news/index.html. Is there a root type command in HTML that will allow to link root/index.html and root/news/news.html without it thinking that root is just another folder?

You could just use the whole link...
at least... thats what i do Smile

Yeh but if I register a .com domainthen I'm gonna have to go through and change every single link in the site...

The links are relative links. The browser then makes a complete link of it.

In your case, you need to link to ../index.html instead of to index.html. The "../" tells the browser that the page is in one directory below the current one.

Hmmm... I didn't know that. It would be way easier to use that, instead of whole links.

thx/dankje, bondings! Very Happy

Also, you can use links like:
Code:
<a href='/index.htm'>test</a>

The '/' at the start tells the browser that the file is in the root folder.
