France with nukes? They don't have the guts to do something like that. They completely abandonded the U.S. for the war, why would they attack with nukes? So much for being allies.

I do not particularly like the French attitude and I was wandering why they and the Germans did not join the bandwagon...
Now I realized why.This war is getting nowere. The world is not a better place now than it was when that criminal of Saddam was in Power. Yes the only service to humans was to remove Saddam..but at what price... I think I respect both France and Germany for their decisions not to join the coalition forces..

I'm not trying to -and never will- try to defend the murders of the algiers or the disgustingly racist french people -a growing percentage of the population-, but believe me, they're not pussies. They're really diplomatic people indeed, but don't f**k with their soldiers.

And upon what are you basing your......umm......unbiased......comments??
People, this is a diplomatic negotiation tactic. Even in situations where you have no intention to do something (like nuke someone), you can still threaten to do it. That way, when you are at the negotiation table, you have another bargaining chip with which to trade for something you actually do want. RA
The French are no cowards, and it's idiotic to think so! They didn't get invloved in a war for obvious reasons. Right now, they (and Germany) seem to have made a wise choice.
As for threatening to use nukes, obviously they are talking about Iran and Pakistan. If those countries decide to fully develop and use nuclear weapons in a quest to convert the world to Islam, the French are saying right now, that they will use their nukes to protect their way of life and the way of life of their allies.
FYI - the Foreign Legion still exists, although it has changed some things, and is still a formiddable fighting force. The French have also shown no tolerance for Green Peace (when they tried to stop nuclear tests), and I think this proves they they are no cowards and no dummies.
Even in World War II, when France was occupied by Hitler's armies, the French never really surrendered - the Resistance and the Free French armies still fought against the enemy in France and in other areas of the globe including North Africa and the Far East.
For all their happy go lucky attitude to life, they can be quite hard when neccesary. It would be good to take them more seriously.

the reason i said this was , even after what we all have seen in the past 4 years , nothing has changed , there are still innocent people dying from terrorists attacks ,
now these terrorists wont be able to do all this , if they were not supported by any country , cuz they need funds and weapons ,
Iran ,syria and mainly pakistan are a hub for terrorists , they can get trained there , they get money , cuz most of the islamic countries send money to pakistan in disguise of aide , recently the aide money sent for earth quake victims , was used for terrorists development , cuz USA is montering all the transactions , the earth quale was a very good excuse for people to send money ,
when all these countries support terrorisms , and country like Iran openly asking for demolition of israel , we have to be ready for the worsts ,
many countries have Nukes , but nobody has the guts to say that they will use it ,if they were attacked , the main reason to build nuke was to defend the country ,not to keep it in a showcase

umm, you talk of france's abandonment and breaking of alliances. What the hell. Have you considered the fact that the USA has never entered a war unless either it was attacked or threatened itself or they do not like the possibilty of an opposing country gaining more power.
They did not enter WWII untill pearl harbor was attacked, and i have heard that day by people from the us state that that was the start of the war. Completely discounting the 2 years before then.
They only joined the korean war because of the fear of a communist takeover.

Well, I don't know what Chiraq was thinking, but to me it does sound totally absurd. I they were to use nukes against terorrism, how are they going to do that? Ask all terrorist to gather at a special X-mark to nuke them? You can't seriously think that there will be less civilian casualties than casualties on the terrorist's side...
The statement made by France is certainly true and other countries possesing nuclear weapons will act in identically the same manner. If another country attacks them using terrorist means or other methods, the country reserves the right to retaliate using nuclear weapons. Nevertheless, one has to admit that the majority of the terrorist attacks occuring at present are not bakced by official state governments and therefore the French threat cannot be fulfilled. Only in the rare occasion that a government would endorse terrorist attacks (as Afghanistan had done) would such a retaliation be possible.
The French and Germans didn't need to get involved in Iraq because they knew the US would take care of it. No dirt on their hands.

I agree with France's tactics... although a nuclear war with a select few of innocent lives being taken, does not seem very... enjoyable.
