| TUCKER, Ga. - A strange chain of events that began with a traffic accident and a gas leak ended this week with the discovery of nearly $900,000 worth of marijuana growing in a suburban apartment, authorities said.
It began when a drunken driver crashed into an apartment building Sunday morning, said Officer Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. The collision ruptured a gas line, prompting firefighters to respond to check for leaks. While checking inside one of the units, they found an indoor pot growing operation, Moloney said. Firefighters called the Gwinnett County Drug Task Force. A sweep of the apartment netted 182 plants still in pots in three separate areas of the unit. The estimated street value of the 3,121 ounces of marijuana seized is $884,892. The resident, 50-year-old Rickey Baker, was jailed on one charge of trafficking in marijuana and was released Monday on $22,100 bond, according to jail records. |

I wonder if he will make the driver of the car pay for damages. That could help him pay the fines that he now owes lol.
