I think this pm thingy should be removed for gmail invite request.

and any one who would see it first can send the invite and reply back

This would be better than sending pm as the person requesting invite might pm more than one person or the person pm-ed might not be online.
this format was thought to prevent:
web crawlers (bot's) from cathing email adresses from the forums.
spam on users mailboxes
Also, since this gmail invitations is forum supported, the forum should be the base for all comunications.
As for not being online, the mail you gave to sign in at the forums receives a warning message everytime you receive a pm. All you need to do is click on the link on that message to go to your users inbox.

and don't try to be stupid either. obviously *some* of us are wants to get rid of these invites. offering frih$ is different. it's something we earned from posting in this forum.

Friends u will be happy to know that gmail is awarding 50 gmail invitations to all its present user base and each time u use few invitations , after few days they are again increased to 50 limit
So anyone wanting to join gmail can email me for it
and thereafter u can also help others do the same job
but one thing i wanna quaote is that gmail is still not compliant to some of older browsers that is IE with version lower than 6 I have arnd 50 Gmail Invitations.. Do Add me in this list Pls.

Gmail offers email accounts by invitation only. You need one to get an account.
By the way I have 50 for now. All my friends have Gmail accounts already so I will never be able to get rid of all of them. Add me to the list.
By the way, Gmail does give you POP access so you can download messages to Outlook/Outlook Express/Mozilla Thunderbird to make it really easy.Well if anybody with a gmail invitation reads this could you please send me a pm with one. I would really like to have a Gmail account rather than my slow loading hotmail one.

Yea i dont think this sticky is needed anymore... gmail is open to the public now.. all you need is a cell phone (something to do with spammers setting up accounts)
EDIT: i take it back, i didn't see that bit about US only... oh well...

Are you serious?!
Can't be right cause when I logged into Gmail today, it's still says it's Beta...yeah its still in a beta, but with the coming of google talk (happened that same day afaik), u can also request a gmail account if u have a cellphone (only for US numbers)
so its technically not a request-only system anymore

I dont see the reason to keep this thread open. As it is any Tom Dick & Harry have got a Gmail account.
Also now that Gmail is open to everyone, as one can use their Google Account to sign in to creat a new Gmail Account & if u r in US its all open.
