CHMOD?! Help!

Soulfire
Okay, so I created a MySQL database and have all that information and I have uploaded the phpbb2 folder to public_html/forums

Now, how do I chmod config.php and stuff? I am using the ftp that frihost gave me and there are no options to chmod and I tried changing permissions under directadmin, but that did nothing.

All I get is a "can't find server" page. I entered http://www.runestore.frih.net/forums and it says 403 or 404 error and that I don't have permission to acess that.

Someone help me out, I've looked at 5 installation guides for Phpbb and nothing has helped yet!

To CHMOD in FTP, right-click on the file, and click 'Properties'. It should be there. If not, there should be a 'File Permissions' item that you can choose.

If your FTP client doesn't have this, I suggest you get FileZilla.

Make sure that the permissions on index.php are set to 0755. If you still get an error, see the error log for more information.

Okay, so I have successfully CHMOD my files config.php

However, when I go to http://www.mydomain(which I put in).com/forums/install/install.php nothing happens. It can't find the address.

I used SmartFTP to CHMOD.

I saw his guide, but when I go to runestore.frih.net/forums/install/install.php nothing happens.

the phpbb2 file is uploaded to public_html/forums/phpbb2

Anyone at all? I've been sitting here waiting for a response. Pathetic I know, but my request was just accepted today and I want to get my forums online and working.

If you go to http://runestore.frih.net/forums/install/install.php and get a 404 error, it means that the file doesn't exist! Make sure you uploaded everything to the correct directories. There should be an 'index.htm' or 'default.htm' file in the same directory as the forums/ one.

Make sure everything is there, including the install.php file.

Otherwise, I suggest you use SMF, which is available at http://www.simplemachines.org/ Download SMF 1.0.5, unless you don't mind beta software (in which case, SMF 1.1RC2 is OK).

There's no Fantastico in DirectAdmin
