I've run into a problem playing a few new games, but it is a problem that used to be common when playing old games on a new computer.
THE GAMES RUN TOO FAST!
It's not like their too action packed, they are clearlying running up to a hundred times faster than intended. The games I've had this problem with are Freedom Fighters and Starship Troopers.
I use an invidia video card and a pentium centrino processor with windows XP. Is it possible that there is a setting somewhere in windows or invidia that is causing this problem?
Its possible that you'll need to get third party software to virtually slow your computer down. I've had to do that with some old DOS games. (the games were made for very slow computers, and on mine everything happened instantly.)
Third party software is indeed what you will need. Old games have no timeticks, so instead of making sure that they do something in a certain time they do something as quick as possible. With systems nowadays being much and much faster than 10 years back this results in games running like mad.
isnt Starship Troopers fairly recent?
Isn't tetris fairly recent?
Really, it hasn't been that long in the grand scheme of things.

Have a look throughout the game options for "Frame Rate Limiter" - these were used on some older games (like the original GTA etc) and if you switched them off, it went crazy.
If there is an option, turn the setting on. If not... sorry, ask someone else coz I'm all out of ideas!
Hope this is some help.
old games were designed for old pcs, so if run on a recent p3 or higher, become turbocharged
try -
3rd party software to virtually slow down the pc
picking up a P2 from cash converters or seconds stores
using a dos emulator
some games have speed settings controllable from an ini file, check the readme nd help file/manual
Freedom fighters came out last year and Starship Troopers came out last month. both of them are for Windows XP. I will search for a frame rate limiter in the ini file or else get a third party program to slow me down.
Thanks
did you try to launch dos thanks to a boot disk ? those games are intented to run through dos normally.
There are some game hack tools that can help you slow down the speed of those games. They are usually used to change your life, money when you play the game. Try something like FPE...
