Basically the "no mp3" rule is to make sure that no member posts any illegal or copyrighted mp3s.
But you can host some mp3s of music that you have created or have the copyright to... however, permission has to be taken for even this kinda music to be on our servers. You will have to request for it specifically in the "Request an account change" forum.
However, to host such audio formats as MIDI, etc, you don't need permission.
