Hi all

If you think your computer is slower than usual, try this tips:

1 scan your computer hard disks and fix errors
Some errors cause your computer unstable

2 defragment your hard disks regularly
Messy files in the hardisks cause the computer spend
longer time to reach the files to be loaded.

3 clean your computer invalid registry
Some registry exist, but invalid. It causes the
computer wast time on scanning registry. Question

Here is a little trick for Windows XP I use to make it boot amazingly fast:

1. Open notepad.exe, type "del c:\windows\prefetch\ntosboot-*.* /q" (without the quotes) & save as "ntosboot.bat" in c:\
2. From the Start menu, select "Run..." & type "gpedit.msc".
3. Double click "Windows Settings" under "Computer Configuration" and double click again on "Shutdown" in the right window.
4. In the new window, click "add", "Browse", locate your "ntosboot.bat" file & click "Open".
5. Click "OK", "Apply" & "OK" once again to exit.

After I did this, my lap went up about 3 times faster than before Very Happy

A simple tip:

Keep things organized. When you have a shortcut to a shortcut to a shortcut to a program, the computer is doing a lot of unnecessary work. Also, run disk cleanup regularly, and keep the computer clean of malware.

also, run msconfig and make sure a lot of unnecessary programs are not loading upon windows initialization, thereby taking up a lot of RAM. i have usually found that a slow computer is related to a lack of RAM. Most ppl have a lot of programs loading when windows starts and never keep in top of what they actually want to load....ie. realplayer, aol launch etc will show in the right task bar for example.

I can recommend running FreeRAM XP Pro. This is a free utility that clears out your ram by removing stuff that isn't being used anymore. It defragments it, clears the clipboard and it can automatically detect the optimum space to clear out to speed up your computer.
