Hi My site is powered by zencart. i have made meta tags and defined them but there is not much results for the same while checking search engine results. How do i optimise my search engine results for my site.

First there are softwares that let you to search for your google rankings. Check your ranking with su ch softwares.
Google has advanced tech. Meta tags, words with same colour as ur bkg don't help much. Rather -
1.Get more sites linking to you (link exchange). Be careful in this.
2.Submit your site to dmoz directory
3.Try geting paid traffic. Don't spend too much money. Know how much to spend.
4.Use softwares like traffic hurricane
These should boost your rankings well.
