NeroVision Guide:
- Start NeroVision (or NeroVision Xpress if you are using Nero 6 or ealier)
- Select Make DVD -> DVD-Video
- Hit Add Video Files and pick your AVI, Mpg, MOV etc and then OK
- Re-arrange the video files if they are not in the right order
Chapters:
* - If you want to manually create the chapters then hit the Create Chapter button, ths gives you a slider with some drag lines to place where you want chapters.* Can take a long time and i generally dont bother as the auto create does a great job anyway.
* - Else hit the More button at the bottom and tick the Create Chapters Automatically checkbox
- You might also want to check your settings here (eg, PAL/NTSC).
- Hit Next
Menus:
- If you dont want to create a menu then choose 'Do not create a menu' option in the Menus To Use combo box at the top
- else click on the example menu on the Left and this will take you to the menu creation screen, or you can hit the Edit Menu button
Layout:
- This allows you to choose how you want your buttons layed out and whether you want to include labels for those buttons
Background:
- Background Properties allows you to choose whether you want a single colour, Image or Video as the menu background, tick the one you want.
* * - The first gives you a colour wheel to choose your background colour
* * - The second gives you some included (crappy) menu backgrounds or the option to choose your own
* * - The third gives you the option of using an included Video file as the background for your menu or choose your own
- Below all these is the Audio file (please keep in mind if you choose animated buttons (or video background I imagine) the background music will restart when the video restarts).* I generally dont include bg music, but have been known to on occasion (last i remember was Drawn Together series 1)
Buttons:
- Button Settings, here is where you choose if you want Animated Buttons or not.* Animated Buttons are used to display part of the video file they link to (eg, the first 30 seconds of a tv episode).
- The next is the frame for the buttons, unfortunely you seem to be stuck with the ones that Nero provide.
- Text and Numbering is where you choose what you want to display on the Labels for each button
- Numeral Type is the type of numbering you want, eg, Roman, Letters etc).
- Template, this is the style you want to use for the labels
Font:
- Fairly obvious, Font Type, Style and Colour
Header/Footer Text:
- If you put text in here you get Header Text (Title) and Footer Text, eg. Header = Drawn Together, Footer = Series 1
Shadow:
- Display Shadow, check this tick box if you want Shadows on your Buttons, Header and Footer text
- Next choose the colour and brightness of your shadow
- Light Source allows you to choose where the light source is coming from to produce the shadows (direction of the shadows)
- Opacity, basic explaination is Opacity means how see-through it is
- Distance, how long the shadow is
Automatization:
- Animation, how long the Animation should go for (if you used bg music then remember what i said about it cutting out when the animation restarts, well this determines how long your song is going to play for)
- I am not sure what the Autoplay stuff here is, looks like you can set the menu to play for a specified time and then start one of the videos?
Interaction Colors:
- Here you choose your activation colours, think URL Links and you will know what I mean (ie, a visited link is a different colour then a non visited link etc)
In the left pane you see the preview, if you double click on any of these buttons you get more options, including being able to change the text on the label itself and the point at which to start the button animation or the image to display on the button.
Click Next.
Back on the Select Menu Screen, hit the more button and choose the Start Playback With (can be Menu or one of the videos included in your project) and When Finished Playing A Title (whether to go onto to the next video or back to the menu).
Click Next.
Here is where you preview the DVD you are about to create, you have the preview window on the left, a DVD Remote on the right and a Preview Menu Animations button.
Click Next.
Check the Current Video Options and choose a Burn To (choose your dvd burner), Write To Hard Disk Folder (for burning later), Volume Name and Record Settings (mostly just used for setting the write speed).
Click Burn!!
Thats it NeroVision will now Transcode your menus, then your videos.* This will take about 2 hours or so, depending on what you are converting (an average AVI movie takes around 2 hours).
Points:
- until you have used this a few times always hit the MORE button on each screen to check for extra options.
- Font sizes for menus are automatically selected, I have managed to change the size before but wasnt easy and woudl take a long time to get to the right size, so havent bothered including that part.
- If you dont really care about a Menu then use WinAVI which takes about 40mins to convert a full AVI movie, when compared with 2 hours for NeroVision its a big difference.
Hope this helps some of you out there guys,
