Does anyone play paintball? If so, what type of paintball gun do you have? And what is your set-up?

My friends and I have a small paintball course set up in the forest close to my house. We dont play much, but when we do it is a great bit of fun! I am simply using a Spyder Victor 2.
I dont play paintball but it sounds real fun to me
sorry........ what is paintball.. ? how to play ?
Paintball Rules! I LOOOVVVVEEEEE it...thats why part of my website is devoted to it
.
Anyways, I have a PMI Evo (with anti-chop), with an RJ Skateworks Boss Bolt, a 14" Smart Parts Progressive barrel, fed from an Empire Reloader II and powered by CO2. Soon, though, I'm gonna get a new regulator (probably CP),an HPA tank and hopefully more upgrades...but they're expensive and college drains most of my money.

Its doesn't hurt if you hve the right stuff on and you take the hit like a man and not a mouse.

Paintball is pretty much shooting people with guns that shoot balls of paint. A Paintball gun will fetch you anywhere from $100 USD to $2,000 USD. Couple that with the price of balls and CO2/N2/HPA(High Pressure Air) Tanks as well as protective gear (you wouldn't want paint in your eyes) and you have one of the most expensive semi-sports around. It makes up for being hella fun though.
Paintball can be played outdoors in rural areas, as well as indoors on paintball fields (which is like a flat surface and people hiding behind large inflatable marshmallows) and has several modes of play.
My setup is a Tippmann 98 Custom with collapsible stock (which infact does nothing in real play) and red dot sight.
Hey all. First of all I love paintball. Been playing off and on for a few years now.
My rig is a Smart parts Ion with a CP reg, drop forward and a carbon fiber stiffi barrel. My plans include a lightning bolt and some other weight reduction aftermarket stuff. The thing is already feather light so it's kinda overkill but that tends to be my aproach to all my hobbies. Can n e one say a 6 hour a day WoW habit.
To everyone who is worried that paintballs hurt. They do. Don't let N E one BS you. But it's not that bad. Personally I play in camo pants and an under armor shirt (under armor is a skin tight material similar to bycycle shorts. and is in no way a protective peice of equipment.) I wear this because my approach to paintball is small and light. I like to be able to manuver quickly and also because it gets really hot. Back to the point it hurts but not that bad. It's like a pinch or a needle poke. Over in a second and out of mind just as fast. The sport is a rush like no other. Combat as close to civilians can get. A sense of conection both with your team and your enemy. For those few moments (or more than that depending on the game) nothing else in the universe is important except you, your marker (gun) and your oponent winner take all.
If you've never tried it do just once if you don't like it quit, but if you do I hope to see you one day on the other end of my barrell.

I agree with the pain guns part, but lot of fun none the less. Never thought of taking the game/sport up professionally. I rather go to the range every so often. Saves on the continuing bruising from being shot repeatedly, obviously I would not make a good soldier....
I've only played about three times with some friends, but I love it! I wish I could play more often. The only thing I hate is that I don't play enough to have my own gun, but they keep sticking us with these obsessed paintballers, who have these thousand-dollar guns...it ain't right. It's a lot more fun when us sucky people play with other sucky people.
i played paintball in the netherlands in enschede. first i though it will be painful, but you don't hurt if you get a bullet on your head
I play paintball occasionally, but i use my friends stuff because i am too cheap to buy my own stuff.
i tried üaintball last weekend and it was very funny...
i thought about buying my own paintball-guns and play in the forest next to my house

Anyone play?
I play, mostly in the woods behind my house, with a few freinds, and by far, woods is my favorite, even at courses.
I use an Ariakon Sim-15 marker, which comes from: http://www.ariakon.com/
I want to get one of their pistols next. They make some neat stuff.
I'd also like to get a Q-loader for my gun.
So what does everyone else use?

I marshall games one day per week at my local paintball centre, and it has to be THE most fun part-time job in the world!
OK, cleaning all the markers at the end of the day isnt the most fun - especially in winter, but the free games we get ourselves, and marshall days where we dont have to follow the rules so strictly as there's no public around, is an excellent laugh.
My little boy aged 8 loves it too, and even takes the pain of a shot better than some adults!
Paintball... yep, good hobby

aren't there different types of games too? like capture the flag or something?
I've heard about this hobby and am aching to try it.
I'd love to try that. Sadly enough there are no facilities around. I hope someone makes one!!
I've played a few times with my friends. Since we all live out in the middle of nowhere pretty much, we just play in our backyards. It's quite fun actually. I don't have my own gun yet. I've had to borrow someone else's, but I'd like to get a nice Semi-Auto, or at least a good solid Brass Eagle pump gun sometime soon.
i played it
really good sense but it makes you tired
i like soldier camo and forest paintball with hiding in bushes
when we finish i like to shot at sky.

i don't like it because i think it is painful isn't it? if so it is stupid to have this hobby!! anybody think so, too?
Not stupid, but I prefer pure tactics to the field. I would rather play a tactical command videogame than play actual paintball. Its not painful, but it doesn't give the adrenaline exactly like paintball.
If it comes down to it, I prefer manhunt to paintball.

It depends on where and how you play. On a regulated feild, with watchful refs, the fps on guns is pretty low, so they don't hurt. I think the standard is somewhere in the range of 290 fps, maybe 310.
Now, if you play like my freinds and I do, it does hurt. We play around 500 fps usually. Getting hit once is a good incentive not to be hit again. But we also do alot of sniping, because that is how we set up the course. High fps at long range keeps the paint on target, at least for us.
I played it two month ago.It is very funny
Me and my work buddies tried it this summer and it was fun. We played in an old industry hall that was modified for paintball playing. We are planning to play outside the next time, that will be interesting.
The first shot that hit me was between my eyes, fortunately I got an mask.

Me too! Perhaps it is because I am a girl, but I just don't understand how running around shooting people with paint is fun
I tried it as well, hurt for about a week after. We finshed a day with a game called Mayhem, and it was mayhem as well, hardy any obsacles to hind behind, and the only way to end the game was to either run out of paint shells or you couldn't take the pain any longer.
I ran out of paint 2nd out of approx 18 people. My trigger finger has never shot so fast.

Love to play, ran a small on going commercial game at the Grand Canyon for about three years, was some of the funnest games I have ever played. Ran grab the flag, and last man standing games, mostly wood games, and long range games too.
As I said did this for about three years there, with dreams of opening a full time field there, but life stepped in and went a different way, but I still play when I can and the dream is still there.. LOL

I play... My gun is on the forum, theres pic of it... I custom paint guns... and if your interested you can contact me that gun is for sale.
I've seen people play it and I think it's really fun. i think it can release my stress. I'd like to try it someday.
I haven't played in a while, but I love to play. (Just no time with school, work and now baby).
My favorite gun is a Tippman Prolite. ^^

Heh yeh I went and did paintball not too long ago. Good fun. Luckily I didn't cop too many body shots, the one that probably hurt most was one that I copped across the knuckle. It gave me a bit of swelling and pain but nothing too bad.
Probably the hardest thing to come to terms with for me is how much variation in trajectory you can get. You can fire 5 shots from the same position and end up with 5 wildly different trajectories due to the paintballs curvature. I guess this is why you buy stacks of supplies and keep spamming, you're bound to hit something eventually.

I used to play it quite frequently a few years back with my friend. Then I realized my cash was going down really quick.
Those were good times.
I airsoft and go to MilSim games now

I know what you mean on the trajectory thing. I once was playing against a freind, and he was hiding down below a river bank, so i took a few shots at him to keep him down while i was moving, one of the paintballs curved downward at hit him right on the back.
I never got to play paintball here in Germany, but I'm planning to travel to Netherlands one day and play there. It looks really fun...
I dont have a gun yet, but i play every once in a while with friend's guns, and a couple of my friends have fields set up. One of my friends fields even has a tower. But ive been shot multiple times on the bare skin, its not that bad
i love playing paint ball i got a spyder.. thats all i really like but the thing is i bought the cheap 1 .. it was like $120
I've only been paintballing once, but it was great! I came home with huge bruises and a nasty cut on my hand, but I really want to go again.
I have only played 'real' paint ball once. All the equipment was rented, and unfortunately for me, my goggles misted up, and when I tried to clean them, I made it worse. The result was that for the last bit, I could see to well, but I still did well, except for one incident when I almost hit a team-mate.
Right now I am considering going again, but if I do I'd prefer to take my own equipment along, and play more regularly.
I would really appreciate any advice from veteran paintballers with regards to equipment. What should I buy, what don't I need, and what should I stay away from?
I think that if I play reasonably often, I should have the proper equipment, but I don't want to be extravagent or waste money on unneccessary stuff.
I look forward to your replies!

I recommend a Tippmann 98 Custom gun. They're very affordable (I bought mine with a bunch of equipment for only about $150, and they're probably even cheaper now since I bought mine many years ago. I was very much a beginner, but from what I've heard, those guns are supposedly great for people who know what they're doing as well.
To reply to the general topic, I used to run around my backyard with my brother, and we would just shoot at each other. It was fun, but I had to stop because whenever I'm playing against a guy, I automatically aim between the legs, even if I try not to. I'm too dangerous for my own good...

Tippman 98 Customs...well I would agree they are pretty descent for a beginner when you take the cost into consideration. I don't play so much, but I edit some film for my friend who plays on a team and a lot of tournaments.
I went painballing about a year ago, it was great, haven't really gotten the time to do it since then.
Maybe at the end of this month I'll do it again, it's great fun!

I'd like to try it ... Its getting famous here ... Maybe I will if I am able ... I know I can ... I am good at CS ... So why not ...
I've only played paintball once and I thought it was great, although my goggles steamed up a lot and it was verry muddy.
Does anyone know if a Diablo Wrath is a good gun? Back when I was going to play i did a lot of research and it seemed like the best. Had a great BPS (Ball Per Second) rate, an eye, and if u add a halo B loader. Also rather cheap
Last year I went on a school trip to the paintball feilds, it was amazing. We all got these basic markers, but that didn't matter. I took the full force of a paintball on my arse, it hurt... Must've been from my own team to be coming from hehind me.
One of the problems that I had, is shooting in the air, completely thoughtless, hoping I could pull a hollywood and hit somebody, yeah, whatever.
Great fun, just remember to bring a cup.

I have played it once and thought it was really funny. Its years ago. Thanks for reminding me to do this again
Me and a few mates really wanted to start up Paintball, we even had our fields planned out, (huge acres of land) We never did get around to buying the guns and equipment...This was about 4 years ago...
have you ever walked up to your friend and shot him right in the face of paintball. I did of course he had his face mask on, dollar aisle if we have this huge paintball rain and cold paintball kingdom it even has a forest where you can paint ball outside. it only costs $10.00 for addition $5.00 to the polls and $2.50 for equipment. and if you have a group more than four you get like $10.00 off. does anyone near Cleveland Ohio I'd love to stage a tournament fully paid for. just private message me and i'll sign you up. people of my life man I love it

anyways
i play arena, and im getting a tippmann custom pro, mebbe w/ an electronic trigger, and very maybe a flatline barrel and a cyclone loader
what do u guys think of that?
what do u think i should get?
Some friends from work went out and played on the weekend, there were casualties. One guy got taken off to hospital. It was a bit of an unlucky accident though, he go shot and went to steady himself against a plank of wood and got a large piece of wood straight through his finger. Painful stuff.
Other than that it was only bumps, bruises and bruised egos which I guess is the norm for an afternoon of paintball.

If you are going to be playing arena, I wouldn't recommend getting a Flatline. They are perfect for woodsball and scenario play, but they tend to break balls more than other barrels. I'd get a Teardrop or a Boomstick for arena games.
Tippmans are good for beginners, they are cheap, reliable, and good quality. I wouldn't upgrade it too much, your money is better off spent on a nicer gun like an Autococker or an Angel.
Anyways, my setup is a 2k2 Vertical Feed Autococker, with a Dye Swing Trigger, Palmer Mini-Reg, and a Teardrop Barrel. I also have a Tippman with a Flatline, but I don't use it too much anymore.

Because people have no clue how to search, I have merged to two longest paintball threads into a single thread and close a short, third one that should never have been started.
Please do not create any more threads about this, but continue the discussion here, instead.
Thank you.

I've played paintball with some friends ago.. I LOVE IT
the adrenaline etc.. it is really fun.
We played some Capture The Flag in a forest.
10x 17 years old (us) + 11 x businessmen
We adolescents are not that rich so we used normal guns :p
Those *** of businessmen did have money so they used semi-automatic guns...
It is really painful when you get 3 dots in a row on almost the same spot :s
But is was fun !!

Has anybody here ever played woodsball or scenarioball?

I've played woodsball, which is a lot of fun, and I've always wanted to play scenarioball. I personally enjoy woodsball more that the normal fields, it feels more realistic to me, more like real warfare. I'm actually going paintballing this saturday. Just a note, be sure you know where everyone is before you try to surrender someone, I have a scar on my side from thinking there were only two people ahead of me when there were three.
I've never even tried paintballin - looks really cool though. i've heard that it hurts like hell if you get hit (esp. in the wrong places).
how often do you guys play?
btw, have a good time on saturday vidollo!

I've been playing paintball off and on since the early 90's. Early on I bought a gun, some $100 peice of junk called a stingray I think. I only played two games before it broke on me. Ever since I've been playing with rental equipment but I just decided to go ahead and buy another gun. I love woodsball so I bought the Tippmann A-5 Stealth with the flatline barrel. I've read a lot of mixed reviews about the barrel on this gun, it's supposed to create a backspin on the ball which gives it a straight trajectory instead of a curved one which increases range and allows you to aim better with the sights. Some people claim it doesn't work as advertise but others say it rocks the paintball world... I'll find out in a couple weeks when I play me first game with this gun. I'll try to report back here when I see the results.
To tell you the truth paintball is actually the reason I was brought to your forums. I came to make a website for a group of paintballers on another website. I love to play paintball. I am on a team and I play every weekend. I truely find it the most underrated sports but with all the negative contation that comes along with paintball its quite hard to find new members. If any of you have any questions reguarding paintball please feel free to message me, and yes I may be able to help fix that broken gun of yours.
I would like to !!!! I love guns!! and is great to have a game whare we can play with guns without killing somebody!
meh, personally I prefer airsoft. The guns are more realistic, reloading is more realistic, the ballistics are more realistic... If you can't tell I'm a fan of realism
i use to play in high school about 8 years ago now...wow i am getting old...lol. anyway...i use to use the spyder for a gun,...can't remember the model anymore, but i am sure there are better guns out there now...it was one of the best ones at that time though...haven't kept up much with it these days...other things in life have kind of taken over my time and energy, but i bet it would still be fun to get back out there and go again! good exercise, that is for sure.
i have played paintball but i don't own any guns or anything. There's a guy who owns a course near me. He has his in the woods. Its filled with trees, tall grass, with a river going right through the middle. The course makes it a lot more intreseting. Feels like the real world instead of being indoors with little inflatable balloons to hide behind. it's really fun when it rains and the whole thing is muddy, great time.

I have only played paintball one time, but had a blast! ha ha... no pun intended....
I was wanting to get back into the sport and was wondering if anyone know of a very reasonably priced (cheap) paint ball gun that I could purchase that would still have competative abilities...
Any information would be appreciated.
THanks,
Joe

I have been playing paintball for a couple of years now, and I must say that the more I play it, the more addictive the game becomes.
And boy can it become an expensive addiction.
I have a ‘souped up’ PMI with an electronic trigger, halo hopper, and barrel kit. In short, I love the game, whether it is played indoors with inflatable (speedball) or outdoors in the brush (stickball.)
