MichNews.com Dec 26, 2005 Mainstream Media Continues Operations Toward US Destruction- MichNews.com- As the ACLU and CAIR (“Council for American Islamic Relations”—formerly Islamic Association for Palestine—an FBI identified front-group for the terrorist organization Hamas) join hands to stop US eavesdropping on al-Qaeda and other terrorists, in its own inimitable way the leftist mainstream media continues to chip away and undermine US national security. First and foremost, it is the duty of the President of the United States to protect the country. However, with the recent “reporting” by the New York Times and the Washington Post, one is led to believe that protecting US national security is criminal behavior. Second, the NSA spying-on-terrorists scenario (once top-secret but ‘outed’ by the New York Times) is not only acceptable but, necessary if we the people want our country to remain. If President Bush had not affected it, he would have been accused by his domestic political enemies of dereliction of duty. Although it’s still hard to believe, the bi-partisan US Congress actually acknowledged that the President of the United States is constitutionally allowed to protect the country: “Whereas the President has authority under the Constitution to take action in order to deter and prevent acts of international terrorism against the United States,”, as Congress recognized in the joint 2 October 2002 resolution on Authorization for Use of Military Force (Public Law 107-40). That includes the very legal use of warrantless wiretaps of suspected terrorists both domestically and foreign. On this issue, even FISA did not have to be consulted. So, at this point in time, congressional Democrats actually recognized the power granted to the President of the United States to protect the US’ national security. Note: The US Congress has neither the right to grant these powers to the president nor to take them away. These powers are exclusive to the Executive branch of government. President Bush wanted to include Congress in this momentous decision. But, he was under no obligation to do so. Suffice it to say, in retrospect and considering the congressional liberals’ attempts to currently weaken if not usurp Executive powers, it may have not have been the best possible decision. |

Why does the mainstream media continue reporting such lies? The average American is very much more informed than they were oh, say, ten years ago. Back then the media could get away with it, but these days with forums like this and blogs and all sorts of internet resources, the media keeps getting called out for reporting and printing lies. Will they ever learn?
It's all about the "swing voter."
This is the same reason places like MoveOnPAC pays people to post in some of the more popular "conservative" forums.
If they can confuse/sway just a few voters (both the last two pres. elections were very close), it's worth virtually any cost.
The left's 5th column, the 4th Estate, has been given its marching orders: confuse issues as much as possible to make the President look bad. Like any 5th column, that's what they are doing.
Is it successful? Will it be in Nov/08? Those who sit on the fence, the "moderates," the "centrists," those who proudly bellow "I vote for the man, not the party!" are easily swayed by momentary issues--they've been known to vote based on who the exit polls are saying is "the winner" (what did you think exit polling was all about?) and for things as shallow and stupid as who has the best hair or nicer smile.
What is going on now is a two-fer event: 1. They are building up to the mid-terms in order to call all Republican actions in the past 2,4 and 6 years into question. 2. This aggregation of "issues" will allow Hillary to point in '08 and shriek "see!? SEEEEEE what the Republicans do when THEY are in office!? My husband lied about SEX!!! The Republicans lie about EVERYTHNG!!!"
It's so predictable it's almost boring. Unfortunately, what is not as predictable is whether swing voters in large enough numbers will be stupid enough (that is what the left and their 5th column is banking on) to take all this seriously and whether the 5th column can keep the truth from enough of them to make them believe that what is being said is the entire story.
We saw quite a number of these naifs sucked in in both the 2000 and the 2004 elections. It remains to be seen if there are enough rubes, saps, suckers and fools out there still who continue to get and BELIEVE their news from the establishment (lef-advocacy) source.
