Just wanted to know if we in South Africa are that far behind or suffering from a telcomms monopoloy - We have a 1024kb broadband connection at a cost of around R 1000 ($160) per month. Is this in line with international costing? I've got a friend in Switzerland that seems to pay half that for a 2mb.
What do you guys have?
Mine is 256k with a limit of 400MB (download and upload) per month and costs 5$.
In India, Broadband with speed 1024 Kbps cost about Rs. 3800 ($85) with download/upload limit 4 GB per month.

Mine is a mere 256k for 5$ with a bandwidht of 400mb/months
obviously this is not enought for me and even lesser than my webhoster sometimes
looking for better options
I'm spoiled. my conection includes unlimited phone calles throught the US and a conection speed of 4gigs with no limit on band width, that I know of. It's $80 / month.
I think I may have to move to the US.....if for no other reason, but the awesome bandwidth at a very low cost

In India i have a 256 kbps unlimted bandwidth connection for Rs.999 per month roughly around US$22. Although broadband law of 2004 in India , changed the definition for broadband to 256 kbit/s always on, most ISPs found that they can provide broadband with a capping of data that can be downloaded. However, many ISPs advertise their service as broadband but don't offer the suggested speeds.
Also In Portugal you can have 16Mb adsl (16384kbps/512kbps) that costs you $80 a month.
WOW - Very interesting about Portugal...>I never realised they have such advanced telecommunications infrastructure. Anyone know if this is the largest in the world for standard end users?

AUstralia is fricking costly! Everything internet provides and web hosts cost so much for a lousy amount of Space and bandwidth! I was going to go with professional hosting with the exact stuff as here 250 megs 10 gigs but it cost like 8 bucks a month. Rip off!
My broadband is 256kb and like i think 8 Gigs bandwidth up/down for about 60 bucks! I think is a ripoff!
