Steyn: Iraq vote leaves Dems looking like the losers

Well, that old Iraqi quagmire just keeps getting worse and worse, if only for the Democratic Party. What was the straw they were clutching at back in January? Oh, yeah, sure, gazillions of Kurds and Shiites might have gone to the polls, but where were the Sunni? As some of us said at the time, the Sunni'll come out tomorrow. And so they did. On Thursday, they voted in record numbers, leaving Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats frantically scrambling for another disaffected Iraqi minority group they could use as proof that the whole crazy neocon war-for-oil scam was a bust.

Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any disaffected Iraqi minority groups left. Oh, wait, there's Ahmed at 37 Sword of the Infidel Slayer Gardens in Ramadi. Apparently, he's still rejecting the new constitution. Maybe, if we're lucky, he's got a brother who's mildly irked. Whoops, sorry, they just went off to vote, too.

Heigh-ho. The Iraq election's over, the media did their best to ignore it, and, judging from the rippling torsos I saw every time I switched on the TV, the press seem to reckon that that gay cowboy movie was the big geopolitical event of the last week, if not of all time

Precisely so....and what did they scramble for? Why, that nasty, criminal terrorist Bush is using the NSA to spy!!!

Stop the Presses!

Front page, above the fold, the first 6 minutes of EVERY evening newscast...for the next week, at least until the bitter stench of the Dem's failure to destroy our efforts in Iraq has been cleansed from the American mind.

Nevermind the fact that the NSA has been doing this for every president since their inception back in the 70s.

It's NEWS!!!! that they are also doing it for Bush. And it's NEWS!!!!! right now, right this instant!!!

I wonder why....?

Now the Dems/Libs are trying DESPERATELY to find any other diversion from any truth's or any positive realities in this war. I find that these BUFOONS violate more of our civil liberties than the Patriot Act. Quite frankly, has anyone on here actually feel their rights are violated because of so called spying or eavesdropping of NSA to hopefully diverge or foil any attacks on our soil? Aw Geeze, I think it was that 3 hour phone call I made in Pakistan they were listening on...bummer now they really have foiled my plans (sarcasm). Seriously, if they want to listen in on my conversation with my parents in Florida they may just fall asleep.

I had quite the laugh when I saw that headline. Surely a "duh" moment if there ever was one. What the hell do these people think the NSA is FOR?! Do they actually walk around thinking that the government ISN'T spying on them?

Call me a fatalist, a survivalist, a realist, whatever. I know my government spies on people. I know it spends billions of dollars every year on projects that I have never approved and I will never know about and probably do not want to know about. I know it has committed, is committing, and will comit horrible crimes against individuals and entire societies. I am not stunned by these facts and that is why I sleep the sleep of the dead every ****** day. This is the government of a superpower, not the local Girl Scout council.

I'm just glad the whiners have stopped repeating their mantra "no viable exit strategy". I nearly strangled several people over that. Especially when they feel that they are so smart.

Whiner: Mmmm, excuse my Mr. President. You did not plan a viable exit strategy.

Bush: Like hell, my vidable exit strategery is to win the SOB, and spread democracy and liberty. Now..get up off the floor.

The other one was "the war was not planed out properly". These people have been "planning out" too many parades.

Oh so true. I've nearly choked my father-in-law, brother-in-law and a couple others because they refused to acknowledge some of the very basic facts that are associated with this war on terror.

They don't realize how stupid they look when trying to defend the exteme left-wing rhetoric filled with falocy and malice. When I show them proof of this or that, they shake their head and walk away mumbling about "but Kerry said this" or "Murtha said that".

They're exposing themselves at every turn these days. They can't come up with enough lies to keep up with all the good that's going on.

It is difficult to sort out which psychological phase the Democratic Party is in from one day to the next. One day they want to fight the terrorists and the next day they want cut to run. To claim the hard line leftists are bipolar would be an understatement. Hard core liberals shriek not to accuse them of being unpatriotic while at the same time they claim America cannot win the war in Iraq. While steadfastly declaring that they are devoted to our men and women in uniform, a Democratic senator compares our troops to Nazis, a Congressman claims our soldiers are weak, and “Hanoi Jane” Fonda proclaims that our soldiers now have, “How to Commit Atrocities,” as part of the military curriculum.

Reeling from the successful election in Iraq, Democratic strategists don’t know how to respond when asked about the election. When questioned by a frustrated Tony Snow of FOX News, leftist spokeswoman Mary Anne Marsh insisted on repeatedly side-stepping the simple question put to her. Mr. Snow asked her to put the polls aside and just give her own opinion on the election in Iraq, but she could not do it. Like a doll with a string in her back, Marsh kept repeating, “The American people feel we are failing in Iraq and don’t trust the president anymore.” Just pull that string and you would get the same thing over and over. She looked foolish and Democrats do not speak for all of the American people.
