Ever wondered what this is thumbs.db are files which are created in a folder with images or movies so that you can have a thumbnail view of the files. If you edit a lot of stuff on your machine it could be annoying to see them po-up in all your image directories.Getting rid of these is a tad easy Idea

Go to Start>Run and type gpedit.msc and click OK and the group policy editor will open. Go to
User>Configuration>Administrative Template>Windows Components>Windows Explorer.
A rather long list will show up in the right.Double click Turn off caching of thumbnail pictures Enabling this will do your job.

The above explanation is for XP professional. For HomeEdition go to
ControlPanel>Folder>Option>View>DoNot Cache Thumbnails
Disabling thumbnail caching will slow down opening of folders in Thumbnail Views Arrow
