I've also been a HUGE fan of C&C. Started on PS1 in '97. We even formed a club here in Montreal. I had two PS1s and two TVs hooked up together so that we could play C&C Red Alert head to head. We set up tournaments and the whole deal. Went on for about a year and a half.

Of course everyone used to 'tank rush' all the time but sometimes we'd come up with something a little more outrageous. I invented (I think) what I called an 'engineer rush' where I'd play as the Allies and immediately train two engineers and 3 rocket soldiers and then quickly load them into an APC and race across the map into the other guy's base, park right beside the construction yard, unload everybody, send the two engineers into the construction yard to damage it and then have the rocket soldiers finish it off. You can actually pull this off faster than a typical tank rush (six light tanks). Used to piss everyone off big time. But you can only pull it off on certain maps and only once in a blue moon because everyone gets wise and just builds a couple of pillboxes as a counter measure. *chuckle* Ahhhh... those were the days... Cool

Finally got Red Alert installed on my Pentium 1V about a year ago and went gaga when I realized you could create your own missions. Then I went out and bought that 5 pack C&C Collection which had Tiberian Sun, Firestorm, Renegade, Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge.

Here's a mission for Red Alert that I wrote in case anyone wants to download it and try it out:

http://www.geocities.com/project_ra2004/missions.htm

I'll have to warn you though, the difficulty level is 'white knuckle' (i.e. tough) but it's definitely doable. I'd love to hear some feedback if anyone tries it.

a french game, act of war, is better than C&C i think.

I was trying to navigate my way to the Marketplace and I found myself here... Shocked

Oh well... Nothing beats reviving an old topic from the grave, eh? :p

I've played alot of the C&C series...
I played C&C first... Then my brother got C&C Red Alert, and I played that. Then there was some wait until I bought Tiberian Sun. Then I got C&C Renegade.. It just wasn't the same. Alright, but not the same. The last one in the series I have is C&C Generals.

EDIT: Oh I know what I did! I typed in /forums/vt-19 instead of vF-19

Red Alert 2 was the first real-time strategy game I have played, and it is very addictive. I like the Allied more, as their air attacks are the best, I think. However, when choosing random in skirmish, the computer always give me a soviet country.

C&C is one of the best rpg games ever!! and red alert 2 will definitely top the list as the best in the series. ive played that, tiberian sun, and generals... one awesome series.

and not to forget yuri's revenge is also very good
Loghete
Oh yeah!

I first played RA1, many years ago when I were a little kid.

Then I bought RA2.. And now I've got C&C The First Decade. It contains all games from Command & Conquer to Generals..

But I think it's sad that EA bought C&C... Westwood doesn't even exist anymore Crying or Very sad

How are the new ones?

I used to play the original C&C as a DOS game on my old Pentium II, ah good times Laughing. Was a great game, do the new 3d ones live up to the old ones by any chance?
TonkPilz
Command & Conquer 3- Tiberium Wars (C&C Tiberian Twilight) will be relesd next year

here are some screenys

c&c GDI vs. NOD was what started it all... those games were sick, then red alert came along and redefined PC games to this day. LOTR Battle for middle earth 2 is made by the same guy who did the C&C series at westwood. IT's a good game
SilverDogg
is it actually possible to like generals?

i prefer the good old ones, c&c and red alert. those games were great.
bought the box some time ago, and im depressed over how badly ea does things. they destroy everything. BAH!
matttai
the first C&C was definitely alot of fun
definitely remember all those sandbagging tricks to get the AI to run around it lol
then putting an obelisk at the end
obelisks were the best Crying or Very sad

The 3d ones suck. Actually, Tiberian Sun is not bad because of the environment is pretty cool but Red Alert 2 is a joke. I was quite disappointed when I tried those (bought that CnC Colllection pack they were selling a few years back). They lack the intensity of the original top-down versions.

That is the biggest problem with video games these days.. They are all about the graphics and nothing else. Shame, really. It would actually be nice if somebody actually managed to combine a fun game with good graphics. I love Halflife 2 for that reason. With the level 2 gravity gun... Throwing the guards around was actually FUN and it looked good.

What?
Red Alert 2 and its expansions were the best C&C games for me, I've played them many more times than the others.

When did you first get into CnC? Because I know other die-hard fans who feel the same way about the new 3d versions. They think they're cheesy and lack all the originality and intensity of the top-down versions. I mean, the Commando in CnC 1 (Tiberian Dawn?) "Ha! Ha! That was left-handed!" Now that's art. First time I saw that I was pissing myself laughing for the rest of the game.

I was into ra2 and I got into c&c at least like 4 years ago or something

C&C: THE FIRST DECADE is released. There are 2 DVDs, containing 12 games and a video about making of C&C.
(All the C&C games.)
They are;
Red alert, RA: Counter Strike, RA: Aftermath, RA2, RA2:Yuri's revenge, C&C3: Tiberium Sun, Renegade, Generals, Generals Zero Hour, and other games that i cannot remember.

And, EA is trying to make a Second Decade. First game of the second decade is, C&C: Tiberium Wars.

In Tiberium Wars, there will be one new race. Robots or mutated humans. But EA said nothing about the game yet.

The new game is using SAGE game engine (used in C&C: Generals, Generals: Zero Hour, Battle for Middle Earth, and BfME2). Well, graphics say that the engine is still useful. And it'll need a good system, as good as Quake4 requires.

Its said that Tiberium Wars will be released in 2007 summer.

And, by the way, KANE will be there Very Happy

Isn't it really aweful that they don't make the original C&C anymore? I'd pay full retail if someone had a real copy of the original Command and Conquer. And, why didn't they ever port the other games over to Mac? Ah, if only... At least DOS emulators aren't hard to come by these days. Oh the good old days of DOS. (on a 386, no less. How many people remember that?).
eldarian
Yeah, they're great, i like Red Alert, C&C not much.
Ryl2Pvp
i have played RA 2 , yuri
Tiberium sun, firestorm
renegade
genrals, zero hour
going to play halogen (C&C mod with halo)
and tiberium wars will maybe be on 360 so going to play that one 2 Cool
QrafTee
Yes, and I'm quite fond of those two titles too. Too bad they're not working on a new game rather they are working on a compilation of the old school titles which is nothing wrong, but too slow now that I'm used to fast paced RTS games.

I never liked ra2. I could accept the whole science fiction element of the tiberium series happily enough, but ra2 was a poor sequel to the brilliant red alert. They just hammed up the acting and the science-fiction way too much... It's the whole Yuri character I objected to the most. The whole plot detracted from the game.

Generals was great though. I found including a side like the rebel alliance was quite refreshing.
