Cool! Free hosting!

Hi all,

Name's David. Basically what the go is, I play drums and I have a website. It used to be hosted on www.live.com.au but due to their crap support, and the fact that they've moved everyone across to www.music.net.au which doesn't look like it's been updated in 3 years has prompted me to say "Goodbye!" and find a new host.

Enter frihost.com!

The service looks to be fantastic and I look forward to putting all my stuff up here.

I do link to www.putfile.com and www.dmusic.com to promote my own MP3s and Videos, however these are not copyrighted and I would be the copyright owner if they ever became so.

A bit about myself:

I'm an Aussie, with German, Jewish, Irish and English blood in me.

I'm 21, born on 7th July 1984

I've been playing drums for nearly 9 years, started in early 1997.

I endorse Gretsch drums and I have a store endorsement.

I just last night scored myself a Gretsch USA Maple drumkit through my store endorsement at a heavily discounted price - there's usually a 12 month waiting period for these kits!

I'm a Christian.

My full-time job is as the IT Support guy at a Rehab Hospital in Sydney, Australia.

I also teach drums one evening a week to add a bit more to my income. This is with Beat Industry, which was started by my previous drum teacher Chris McCaig who heads up the operation with his wife.

I also enjoy playing friendly poker games, I like British Comedies (Black Books, Little Britain, Red Dwarf, Black Adder etc.) I also enjoy driving a lot and doing up my car to some extent. My car has a manual transmission of course - as all enthusiastic drivers should have!

I also train in Ninjutsu, which is an incredibly effective and practical form of martial arts. It's also a lot of fun and a great way to stay fit and grow your alertness.

Well that's about it really! If you'd like to look at the videos I've got available of the drumming (excuse the lack of a shirt), just head over to http://www.putfile.com/davidpartay - there's a few songs from my band and a drum solo video of me.

Wow! Quite the drum talent then. I've only been playing for a month (still working on those paradiddles) and I only have a practice pad to play on Sad . Still, one of these days I'll be able to buy that gigantic Neil Peart kit (maybe).

Good to hear your support for British humour - go us!

As for Ninjutsu... well I'm a Wing Chun guy myself, but that's because it doesn't require physical training and I'm lazy. Wink

Thanks mate!

The best thing you can possibly do is get a teacher. Not only will they provide you with material to work on but a good teacher will point out flaws in your technique and help you prevent getting into bad habits.

I think British and Australian comedies are the funniest things on the planet, although generally people who aren't Australian don't really get our dry sense of humour Wink.

Ninjutsu is something ANYONE can do. It is a combat art, but it's taught defensively. You don't have to work out, although it is beneficial. Essentially you learn to defend yourself using your bare hands or with weapons such as staves and swords using the least amount of effort possible.

It works a lot on apply physics to a person's body when they attack you. For example, at the training session the other night we were using the 'tessen', which is just a little steel rod, for defense. The person comes in with a punch at your head, you step to the side, jab them in the ribs with the tessen and then use an arm to push them away just above the elbow and then run away!

It works incredibly well, at one stage the Sensei used me to demonstrate the technique to the person I was training with. One second I was throwing a punch, a millisecond later I was facing the opposite direction wondering what happened! I train with Sensei Mike Tattoli, he runs the Australian Ninjutsu Academy, and I think he's a 10th Dan Black Belt, I'll have to confirm that.

Ninjutsu is great fun!
