How do i get an image constantly showing my game server?

i have seen it on other peoples sites that they have an image showing their game server if its online and how many players are on it etc, how do you do this?

For the most popular games out there you can probably find ready made stuff, but basically what you need is:

1. Some way to poll the game server
2. Generate the image

Best bet is using Perl CGI.
Google for “game server tracker” or something like that
