Hometown: Lisbon, Portugal As for the Why... simple.. i was born and raised here. I still say Lisbon is one of the most beautifull city's in europe. i have been to severall (Brussels included  ) and found only one that matched it. Berlin is an amazing city. As for Brussels, it is very pleasant, but the weather there gives me a sad mood. i am more of the sunny days kind.

I didn't say anything about continents by the way. I just mentioned all the parts of the world and most people call them continents. But in fact Europe, Africa and Asia are on the same continent in that way. Some people call Australia, New Zealand and other small islands Oceania. And people do live on Antarctica. Ok, scientists, but they are considered human too!

To be more precise, I'm from the city of Oostende (Ostend) in the province of West-Vlaanderen. It's quite literally situated in the center of our coastline. I could give you a history of the city, but most of you wouldn't care one bit, so I'm not going to bother
Anyway, I like living here because the climate is more moderate than in the rest of the country and of course I'm always close to the sea, so I never have to endure several hours of traffic on a sunny day. It also comes in handy when looking for a summer job, I just did a month as lifeguard on the beach. jrivas23

I am from Canada, and I think that it is the greatest country to live in.
However, it does depent on the province in which you live. In some provinces, people pay a lot more taxes than in others, but everything is more expensive too. In Quebec, (where I come from), we pay a lot of taxes but school, health services.. etc are way cheaper than in Ontario for example. But the greatest thing about Canada is that we are not crowded (except in big cities but is not comparable to New-York or Tokyo)... we have something like one inhabitant per kilometer square (Canada is 30 millions kilometers-square and has 30 millions people). And the other marvelous thing about Canada is the landscapes. They are breathtaking. We have got beautiful golden reds in fall, white silver lands with snow-covered green pines in winter.... In British Columbia, there are the Rockies, which I haven't seen yet but intend to. Moreover, I consider myself pretty safe here. Low terrorism activities, low crime rate, compared to the US. I am not scared to walk alone in the streets at night. The only "bad" thing is that it does get cold in winter, but that's when we go to Cuba or Mexico! Guess who

Hi, I just answered the poll (South America). Where I live (Comodoro Rivadavia) is not particularly beautiful (except for the sea that nobody actually bothers to stop and enjoy the view in their hectic days...). It is very cold in the winter (the other way round down here!!!), and too windy (though at least it is not so hot) - I mean extremely windy. But not all Patagonia is as desolate... the Andes is better; actually the Patagonian area montain range of the Andes is absolute paradise (and not too far... about 800 km from where I live). So whenever I have some spare days... I rush to Esquel or El Bolsón!!!!

I live in the United States......Alabama to be exact. I love it here. The weather is nice and warm and the view is gorgeous! I love the countryside even though I am a bit of a city girl. There are alot of things said about Alabama, but not all are true. There are a few rednecks of course but the whole teeth thing..I've never quite understood where that came from. I live close to the Alabama/Tennessee border so all that might be true a little farther down south. I love living here though!

I'm in the Springfield, Ohio area of the United States, and it is CRAZY around here. CRAZY thunderstorms and crap. Like seriously. One strike of lightning last night at about 4 AM was SO close to the house that not only did it temporarily take out the power, but the explosion of the air around the lightning was so loud that it woke me up. I then stayed awake, watching and listening to the lightning until I got bored and fell back asleep. It was pretty cool, as long as I wasn't actually hurt at all.

Looks like I am part of a minority. Not many Australians here, till you remember that there are only 20 million of us and there are 300 million Americans. Why do I like living here, well it is not at jammed backed as other places even in big cities. I love 10 minutes form the center of Brisbane and it is still a very quite place with lots of green. All so when you say you are form Australia in a chat room, every one says how much they would like to be there. Big problem is I have not seen much of Australia as a whole :( SNES350

Aussie Aussie Aussie oi oi oi. I have lived in Queensland Australia all my life and just love living here. I am situated very close to the sea so can go down to the beach any time, as I did this morning. It is autumn here at the moment, but still seems like summer with not a jacket in sight. Shorts and T shirts are still the go. The only drawback is the lack of rain as we have had a drought which has affected country people rather badly. City dwellers have water restrictions, but that's not a big deal to me as I lived with tank water supply most of my life. I know there are lots of lovely countries in the world, but I will always live in Australia and have no desire to go elsewhere.

our country is the pits, people from other countries that come to live in the UK get more help in finding homes and work than people born in the UK I am not racist in any way but I do feel that IF I went to live in, say, France then I wouldn't expect them to find my children an English school, I would expect to use a french one, that's why I moved there but in the UK we are bending over backwards to please foreigners at the detriment of our own. our towns don't have Christmas decorations now as it might upset none christian people that have come to live here?????? but we do have synagogues etc for them to worship their gods, could this not upset Christians???? sorry if I've upset anyone but I believe in free speech. mrbofh

The country was very famous in the middle age - it was the most productive part of habsburic monarchy (dont know in English :-/) and Austria-Hungary. But in the communism era it was very poor. I hate communists. Thats the onlyreason why I dont use Euro currency, everything is very expensive and law and politics is in very poor situation. I live in Scotland. You make an assumption that people like where they live. Personally, I don't like where I live. If you look at the league tables from organisations like the UN, you'll find that Scotland is very highly taxed, we have one of the lowest life expectancy rates in the world (maybe the lowest (in a developed country I mean), certainly one of our cities has the lowest), Scotland was voted one of the most violent countries in the world by the UN, and has many deprived areas, some that attract special European funding because of that deprivation. Couple these with the shxt weather and you have a real alluring combination. Scots are very self deprecating and I personally believe it's because we are (in my opinion) ruled by our larger neighbour - England. People are anglophiles because their Scottishness has been systematically eroded. Certainly when I was at school (and before there are any wise cracks – yes I did go to school (well… sometimes)) Scottish history was not even taught – only English history. Scots don't even like to hear a Scottish accent on local radio advertising - the majority are English. At least the Irish had the balls to fight for their independence. I can’t think of a single developed country that chooses to be ruled by another. Can anyone else think of one?

I live in Canada. I'm quite happy here too. Great variety of spaces here from clustered city streets to open country. The weather is wild as well. It can be super cold or super hot and humid. It can be dry or we can get a lot of rain. Some winters we get a lot of snow and other times we hardly see more than an inch. Mind you I can't speak for everyone here. The weather varies greatly across this country.
