This is going to be interesting, considering the result of the ODI series. I think the first test at Chennai might end up as a draw, because of the high possibility of rain. Ganguly has also been included into the test squad, but with the election of Pawar, it is certainly in doubt whether he will be selected for the final XI or not. I hope Dravid and the team carry their form into the test series.
India-Sri Lanka test series
Well it seems that Ganguly is in the final XI and the first day has been washed out. Well too bad.
By the looks of things, Pawar understands that no one in Indian cricket can handle ICC like Dalmiya. The latter is likely to play an important part in BCCI this year too.

Ganguly in the team and rains on the groud....... Can he make a comeback in ODI team too ?
Amazing late wickets by Kumble. This guy has been brilliant in the past few years. Even though he is overshadowed in the media by the batsmen, he has performed consistently and always helps out India when the team is in trouble. India clearly has the upper hand. Sri Lanka is 123/5 needed 320 something on the last day. If Kumble hadn't gotten the wicket of Attapattu, Sri Lanka would have had a nice chance of reaching the total. But, now they don't have the wickets on their side, but it's cricket, so I don't want to rule out a miracle.

Brilliant bowling again by Kumble to get the win for India. That's his eight 10-wicket haul and takes his total wicket tally to 478. He is truly one of the great bowlers of this era. A defeat by nearly 190 runs will be demoralizing for Sri Lanka, so hopefully, they can raise their level of performance in the next match.
The sad (or happy for some) thing that has happened is Saurav has been dropped. He had scores of 40 and 39 in this match. It's just a wrong move at a wrong time by the selectors. Gambhir didn't even cross into double figures in both innings and he is still on the team. I'm not advocating him being cut off the team, but if anyone had to be cut, it should have been him.
Real disappointed to see Ganguly being dropped. No, it's not because I'm a Kolkatan. The selectors could have been more tactful.
By the way, has anyone noticed, Greg Chapell doesn't seem to have any particularly good statistics of his coaching career, other than the hugely talented Indian side.

Then why is it? You expect the selectors to select him even if he isnt performing well? He should have been dropped long back! You ought to be grateful he got so many chances.

No, no one noticed that. Because of that I guess the Indian team is performing so well(notice my sarcasm).

No I'm disappointed because IMHO he deserved a place in the side more than say Gambhir, or in view of the current match, Kaif.

Well I don't give Chapell credit for bringing the young guns to the front. We've been seeing this for a long time, even before Chapell begged his way into the coach's job.
A great coach isn't one who gets a great team and wins matches with that team, but one who builds a great team. Chapell ? Other than proving the leadership skills of Rahul Dravid, he doesn't seem to have done anything drastically different.
Some brilliant stuff from India's lower order batsmen. They have scored 72% of the Indian runs this match. A few years back, they would have collapsed like a pack of cards. It's obvious India is going to win this match and take the series on the fifth day. Sri Lanka need 274 runs to win and they have 4 wickets in hand. I suppose Mubarak and Mahroof will provide some resistance initially, but they will be vanquished by Harbhajan and Kumble. Sri Lanka will take heart from their performance today, but overall, their tour of India has been a disappointing one.
Now, the topic of Ganguly's dropping is definitely controversial, but look at Australia. They dropped Martyn, who had an average of 40 something in the matches before he was dropped, and did you see riots in Australia? Did you see imbecilic ministers saying they would disrupt Parliament to campaign for Martyn? I know Ganguly deserved better and I think he deserves a place over Gambhir, but we're building a team for a future, not one that will collapse when players like Ganguly, Dravid, and Tendulkar retire.

India seals the series. What a convincing victory. Kumble ending up with 20 wickets in a 2 test series.
And with this win, India will move to the 2nd spot in ICC Test Ratings.

it was an awesome win no doubt about it, but i still think the batting could have been improved though, in the first innings the top order failed completely...there is still some homework to be done, and any idea when the matches are with pak? that is the series i wont miss for sure, hope India maintains the same winning ways over there also....
India has won this series with a 2-0 margin and it seems that both
Ganguly and Zaheer Kahn will not find a place in the sqad for the series against Pakistan.Hope India performs better because we cannot take the
pakistanis lightily. They have trashed the Ashes Heroes"England" and have won both the ODI and test series
