Where to install a phpBB forum?

I've searched the whole forum for this question with no luck.
I am installing a phpBB2 forum (2.0.1 Cool

on FriHost, but where does it actually go?
There is a forum folder already located in my files, and inside this there is a CGi-Bin file (which I'm not too sure about what it does although I think it has something to do with security).

Does anyone know where the files should go? I know how to install I just don't know where. And the config.php file has to be changed permission to 777, is this correct?

I do it via FTP as its easier if this helps. Very Happy

Maybe try to make the config file 755 instead of 777. 777 might give some errors. About the cgi-bin, just leave it in that directory. It won't harm and you might need it in a few months. And yes, according to what you said, it should be installed in the right place.

google for phpBB and go to their main webstie, if my memory serves me well, i think they have some info on how to install it.

I know how to install it and just don't know where, (I've installed one before now correctly).

From what Bondings has said, it should be in the "forums" folder.

I'll try changing the permission to 755 from 777, although i think it has to be 777 to install it. never mind, I'll try anyways. Very Happy

Just dump it at 777. After installation CHMOD 644.

There's no difference, it's only for that few seconds it's at 777.
