Question about Search Engines

Phil
I've been trying to increase the amount of traffic to my site for the last couple of months.
I'm sort of confused about something. I submitted to a couple of search engines, Google and Yahoo. But according to my Traffic logger, neither of these search engineswill have anything to do with my site.
Whereas MSN, an engine I never even submitted to, has searches almost daily on my site.
How can this be? Am I just being too impatient with Google and Yahoo?

This'll be because MSN, is accosiated with alot of Hosts and when you register tehy get you link.
And Yahoo! And Google are better so it takes up to 6 weeks.

You can look at the good part of this....i`ve just added my url to google and yahoo. It will take about 6 weeks to appear on google. But then you will have alot more trafic, which ofcourse you want to keep. So untill then you have lots of time to enhance your website with more content and stuff.

Search engines typically take 4 weeks to include your site, though it might be less. Google is notorious for taking extremely long, in effort to keep spam sites away. This is called google sandboxing. If you are new to Search engine Optimisation, check this tutorial http://free-tutorials.blogspot.com/2005/11/30-minute-guide-to-search-engine.html

Get links to your site from high PR websites and google will index you far quicker. Supposedly its 24 hours for a PR6 link, not that they're easy to get for free.

MSN is also quicker because its new and has more emphasis on indexing than Google, which focuses on improving its algorithms.
