there are 3 tiger families, all mother & son. Mothers are A, B and C, sons are 1, 2, 3 respectively. They a going to across a river with a boat could accommodate 2 tighers at most.
the conditions are:
Mother & Mother will not fight each other.
Son & son will not fight each other.
The son will be attacked by other mothers if his mom is not with him.
The boat must be driven by any of the tigers.
No other conditions or restrictions.
Question: how could the tigers go across the river safely?
I did I mede it!
I made it too. should i post it here now? or i should wait for some other posts??????
It has multiple outcomes, doesnt it?
its tricky but after about 15 minutes, I figured it out. Nice challenge
yep easy.
ABC = mothers
abc=sons.
Aa>
a<
ab>
A<
Cc>
C<
BC>
a<
Aa>
sorry if this spoils it for others but it has been up a few days
That took me 4 mins wasting my time

let's look at your solution this way...
Initially, "Aa" go to the other end
then only "a" comes back.
notice that now "a" is alone at the first end (without his mommy) and will be grotesquely devoured by B & C.
i think there's something similar made into a flash program, click here:
http://freeweb.siol.net/danej/riverIQGame.swf
it's in chinese but this is the translation:
-Everybody has to cross the river.
-Only 2 persons on the raft at a time.
-The father can not stay with any of the daughters without their mother's presence.
-The mother can not stay with any of the sons without their father's presence.
-The thief (striped shirt) can not stay with any family member if the Policeman is not there.
-Only the Father, the Mother and the Policeman know how to operate the raft.
-To start the game click on the big blue circle on the right.
-To move the people across the river click on them; to move the raft click on the pole on the opposite side of the river.
Enjoy!
quite easy... is there a harder puzzle? keep posting i enjoy solving puzzles hehehe.. thanks
this puzzle is very old. It seems you are modifying the puzzle. I have some times ago found this kind of puzzle in flash game version. though good reason to say you are active in this forum.
I love Frihost!
It was too easy..... But i like such Puzzles...U see the answer is
a,b,c= Mothers
1,2,3= sons
1. Send 1,2 together
2 2 will get the boat back
3 2 and 3 will go and then 3 will get the boat back
4. now, a and b will go and then b and 2 will get the boat back
and then the rest of The Solution will be posted in the next POST.
U see it is really getting too big

AVK :-)
I would like to see a random simulator try to solve this by brute force, and then see how many different solutions come up.
Plus, I bet some could write this random brute force simulation in less time than it would take me to try and figure this puzzle out.
And if it had simple graphics in it so you could see things going back and forth while it tried to solve, that would be cool.
It would also answer the other forum question "What do you do when you are bored." My new answer would be "Watch the simulation of tigers and mothers going across the river".

That made me laugh out loud.
If by any chance you find some one to do so.. call me ; I get bored easily.

i see my mistake, ( I assumed the son would be safe if he stayed in the boat away from other mums) to contiune the above
5 b & c go and then 1 will bring the boat back
6 1 & 2 go and then 1 brings the boat back
7 1 & 3 go and all are safely accross
I love that flash game, but it's HARD
no other restrictions? then they swim across. or if thats not good enough, they walk across the water. or, if thats still not good enough they dismantle the boat and use the wood from it to build a bridge and walk across that. there. much easier. THINK OUTSIDE THE CIRCLE!!! (there is no square, squares are illusions
)
That one was easy, took a couple of minutes to work out. If you want a challenge, check out some of the tests on this web site:

Yeah, made it.
I was thinkin little long, before I got the answer.
Thanks for puzzle anyway!
Or, you know, they could swim, avoiding the boat all together.
I THINK
ITS VERY HARD
