Google Search Feature

It would be helpful if there was the google search feature built into the forum where you could search the forum posts, all the frihost websites, or the whole web...

theres also a feature with the imbedded google search where you can show sponsered links via adsense inside the search.

more people could visit frihost sites (kind of a ready made directory).

if this has been suggested before... just refer me. thanks for your time.

Well theres already a search feature on the fdorum which is better than a google search for 2 reasons. If you just ahve a box to search from then you dont have many advanced searching features wheseas in the frihost search you can search for sevral things meeting different criteria.
The other point to make is that unless google had spidered a particular topic it wouldnt show whereas again our serach will show topics made just that second.

If you want to search via google just visit http://google.co.uk / http:/google.com . If you want to have that on every page either use Firefox or download the google toolbar.

About the directory. I'm not sure at all how it will work but I'm assuming ther'll be a databse so sites can be added/removed immmediately. Using google again only results in those whose sites have been spidered.

Making my own search engine for all sites in the directory ... It would be a nice challenge, I just don't have enough time to do it at the moment.

As for google web search, according to a poll on here i saw most users use FF (firefox) which has an inbuilt google search

That's where MySQL Full Text search comes in handy. It's very easy to use, and gives you a relevancy score, listing results from most relevant to least relevant.
