now that's what I'd always dreamt about...a desktop to rival the best of servers
never have had enough money, though.
To get that kind of system here, one has to win a lottery or something.
and SP2 doesn't necessarily break p2p, you only have to add your application in the firewall whitelist. after that it works just as fine as on sp1.

but how does this thread help other people???
why did you open this thread? =\
I've just purchesed some more memory online, would going from 768 > 1024 see a differnce?. Would it help me in cs:source loading times?. Or is it just overkill?. I have a 200gig hardrive with 8mb cache.

More system RAM will make difference only if you are playing games at higher resolutions & most importantly at higher texture detail levels.
So if you have a mid to high end graphics card and you play newer titles (CS:Source included) at high texture details, then the 768 to 1024 upgrade most probably would be worth it.
And as a rule of thumb, there's always room for more ram

Ah! Cool! More points!
Sure, I'll have a go:
AMD Athlon XP 2700+
ASUS A7N8X-Dlx Mobo
ATI 9800
80 Gig + 250 Gig
DVD +/- RW + CD R/W combo drive
1 gig RAM
That's about it. I want to get the AMD 64 bit processor at some point in the near future.
First, don´t rush on the 64-bit!
Don´t make that mistake...
Wait for few months after it´s release and then buy it.
Why? because today's 64-bit are not as 64-bit as they are supposed to be.
AMD and Intel just moved to 65 nanometer tech =\
so it's quite in the dipers...
wait until everything will be stable and then buy the processor.
also you don´t want you cd-rw and cdrom(dvdrom) combined.
Thanks for all the feedback on my system. I'll do some research on 64bit before I go out and buy it.

After some experimets, it's better to have a cd-dvd r and a cd-dvd rw seperated.. i mean: 1 cd-dvd reader and 1 cd-dvd reader-writer seperated.
So you only READ with the reader and only WRITE with the reader-writer.
and it will be even better if you'll have 1 cd reader, 1 dvd reader, 1 cd reader writer and 1 dvd reader writer seperated..
let's say that if you burn 50 disks within like 4 months.. you'll have your cd-dvd rw dead in 6 months.. really.
