Are you able to run an exe on a free hosted server?
Ie i build an app to handle users connecting to an online chat program or something simliar.
Is that allowed and do-able on them?
Cheers.
You can't run EXE files on the server
FriHost's servers are running Linux. That means that you can't run any Windows programs on them. Anyway, this is a web host, NOT a custom server host.

It is possible to code for Linux, you realise?
@Gonzo
This magical program would be the server side app of a game, that would have a online section. The game itself would be a direct link between users, but for the online lobby, i need to have a list of who is on/off. I cna do it with just a mysql db, but its not the best or most efficent way to do it...
No, sorry, that's not possible priddo. We are only doing webhosting, no free program hosting.
What if we nag you?

That would have a completely differenct effect, certainly for this.
true, this kinda thing you won't bend the rule on, the files could be bad...
What about using an IRC channel with a customised client written by you? The client would be seamlessly in-built to this game thing so the users wouldn't even know it's an IRC Chat.

Any type of IRC. <= is strickly forbidden on Frihost.
If you want a chat system, I recommend X7 Chat. Because it uses PHP and mySQL instead of IRC or other stuff, it's a better version of PhpmyChat.

Ah well, i had to atleast ask, thanks for the quick responses and ideas guys
About IRC, the datacenter doesn't allow it at all, so that's certainly not allowed.
Anyway, it seems like your question is answered, so I'll -close- this topic.
