This is a nice article which appeared on techtree.com
If you know any other games please mention it below
I dont think that Carmageddon II should be on there really, it really isnt that bad. I suprised that Grand Theft Auto isnt on there. It depends on how old you are to play these games and what type of mental state your in.

I think it's right,

Honestly I think that list is a load of bs. I've been playing violent games such as Postal and SOF for a very long time now, and I am a very normal person. It really depends on the child that is playing them though. I don't think there are any 10 games that no child should play, but parents should research a game before they buy it for their child. And also why arent Grand Theft Auto's on there that game is soo not good for children...prostitutes,killing,stealing etc...
Seriously folks. Rockstar games should have simply been an entry on the list. I don't think that they've made a game that I would like to see in the hands of someone under 16.

Now this is something to remember about unacceptable games.
Resident evil games ^.^
burnout shouldnt be there -.-
WOW! no GTA?!?! I guess "hot coffee" in a game isn't that bad, right?
Postal 2... While I havn't played it myself, I've heard you can play through the game without killing or injuring anyone/thing. In other words, what happens in the game is up to you. *shrug*

You're right. But there are some rasistic missions in the game. I thought there was 1 mission: 'Kill a niger'
So I think it should be on the list.

Ah. I didn't know of that. Oh well, I guess it's suitable for the list then.
i haven't played any games on that list...and they probably do deserve to be on there...but video games dont make kids kill people they do that of there own free will...been playing Doom 3 UT04 and other FPS for about 3 years now and i haven't killed anyone...and we own about 15 things you could easyly kill somebody with...
few games that i think should be on there are
Doom 3: sure they are zombies...but they still got guts and they fly rather well...
UT04: not really but there are still guts and many ways to kill your enemy in it
I dont think any of the GTA games should be on there...none of them have very good graphics and its always a fixed camera view pretty much..and you have to make the choose to run people over in that game...or shoot them whatever you do...they didn't make that the main objective of the game...its just the funnest and easyest to do.
Now whats stupid is the games were you grab your shotgun and go out shooting people and all that happens is they get a scratch or a bit of blood flys off of them...that could make some kids thing that if you shoot people with a shotgun just a bit of blood flys off them...its much better to have all the detail of there body parts being blow out of them then to not have it.
I was playing Carmageddon II when I was about 11 or something I must be corrupted forever!
BURNOUT REVENGE??
That is ridiculous. No blood, no people at all. They're attacking it for what it implies? The whole premise is to be able to smash cars without any guilt or knowledge of people in them. It's about the destruction, not the death.
Counter Strike should be on there, because of this:
http://pwned.nl
Games can make you kill people :] lol.
Games can also kill you, anyone read the article about the Korean guy dying in an internet cafe for playing like 48 hours with only something to drink?
I'm also suprised to see titles like DOOM3 and GTA not on there, frankly some of those games listed on that article should be replaced by games such as GTA.
I think that GTA isn't on there because the article was written in response to the GTA hype. To actually put GTA on there would be rather redundant.
If anyone is curious, there have been many studies made in regards to video games causing violence, but the results have always shown that there is no positive correlation. The odd thing is that some studies have shown that there is a negative correlation ie video games cause people to be less violent.
Now. I do admit that these studies, with their negative correlations, do state that said correlation is slight and within the margin of error. The important thing is that when mommy and daddy say that GTA made their son kill those people, they ought to perhaps look a little closer at their child and perhaps reconsider their parenting abilities.
I will chime in: if God of War is not on the list it should be. It's not just the violence, it will also ruin any chance that a child will ever understand Greek myth.

Thats what I said

| On the surface BOR may seem a harmless racer, but deep down it is one of the most violent racers since Carmageddon. Think about it; this game encourages you to reduce your opponents to a steaming pile of metal, crash head on into oncoming traffic (which basically consist of innocent people driving about) and then detonate your car which rules out the possibility of survival (there could be children in those cars too, you know), and even hit traffic into your opponents, causing a pile up. Sick and demented, this game has managed to fool us all thanks to its innocent Teen rating. |
Encouraging death? Detonate your car which rules out survival? Children in the cars? Hit traffic into your opponents? Sick and demented?
Far From it!
Thats the most BS article I have ever read about why you shouldn't play any of these video games, especially about burnout! I really dont think any of those games really belong on that list.
Here are a few that I think should be on there
GTA Series
Doom 3
Quake 4
Leisure Suit Larry, The Guy Game (or whatever its called), Playboy: The Mansion
and a few others ones in there too but its too late/early for me to remember them all
pff, next thing you know all these whiny game reviewers will be conplaining about bob the builder because he's an excellent source of morals and problem solving skills...
As someone mentioned above Games don't make kids kill people. If a kid is going to kill somebody than it will do it because his parents has done sth entirely wrong and these kinds of parents don't care also what Games their kids play and so is this whole rating in my opinion just some paranoid stuff of overconcerned parents. i rose up with Doom and all that bloody stuff and still I'm not in jail and never will...I hope
I wonder why GTA san andreas isn't there.
Also, I've never played "The sims - Nightlife", but that too seems a likely contender for the list.

How?
The sims is the sims, it's doing exactly what it's set out to do, control a virtual person. I see not how a Sims game should be kept away from a kid, other than the evil addictingness to it.
Oh, I hate that list.
Manhuntt was a gory game. Soo much gory ideas just in that game. I totally agree that it came first place.
http://pwned.nl/ = lol
surely kids should play SOF2 .. so they see that if you shoot someone it actually does something they dont just fall over and disapear...
most of that list made me want to play those games.. >_>
I dont think children should be kept away from any games except for nudity (AO). I mean...why shelter them from things they are probably going to see anyway? Also, most people have common sense and won't go around killing people just because they see it in a videogame.
come on, playing blody games does not make me a killer, looking a sex, dont give me the feeling off i better gonna go rape some one, because i want the real stuff. even that one provake me, and i really hate him, do not make me kick his face out... (he really need to mke me mad then)
its the parrents as shall teach them right, and if some hit thir son, then should the parrents go kick the others boy face, and not tell the boy to give him right back (in the end it just end you with a gang war and everyone dies because a noob not could set a c4 timer right)
so the blood and the voilence is not a big part, if the kid can think,
something like resident evil, and scilence hill, they can be pretty scary ,even in a bad quality, brrr i think it was scilence hill, it was ok when me and my brother did help each other, but, i was not going to play that alone,
well, when no place to run and no place to hide, just make suicide, i would specialy that if i was hunted by demons
i am really suprised that GTA series hasn't been included on the list...
it should be on the top of the list of games to be avoided for children...
im also suprised that the GTA series wasn't one it. i mean, its like the first 18 rated game in the uk!
but then again, i have seen 6 year olds play it anyway......
World of Warcraft, Its not violent, or bloodridden. But its incredibly addicted and pretty much wasted 1/2 my year due to it.
But how old you define a child as is a large part of what is suitable. By 14 in TV and even outdoor life people can see alot more than a fictional game may depict. In my view anyone over 16 isnt considered a child or "kid" and they have thier own discression on what they should or should not see.
lol one of my friend's 5 year old brothers spends his weekends playing those sort of games. thats all he does (other than eat, sleep and go to the toilet) for the whole weekend. its like, how the **** do his parents let him do that???
and then the kid will keep going on about how he was so good at killing police now or some other stuff like that...
Hey good article
There are alot of game s that I think that you should keep you children away from like MANHUNT, POSTAL, STATE OF EMERGENCY, GRAND THEFT AUTO (Definetly Suprised this didnt make the list, Hookers, Virtual Sex-Hot Cofee, Gore, etc.), PLAYBOY, DOOM, QUAKE, AND THEM DAMN HENTAI JAPENSE PORN GAMES???
It's kind of a generalization to say violent games (even these ones) would make them "grow up and become mass murderers." Just like I have not acquired a taste for mushrooms because I've played Mario for years.

I think the article is about violent games, so I guess sexually explicit games wouldn't be on the list. May be it'll be too big of a task to include sex games too. I think Shadow of Rome is gory but it's not as gory as God of War. While Shadow of Rome gives you points for doing creatively violent things, God of War lets you do them; while not awarding points, the player enjoys the creativity of it (at least i enjoy ripping the wings off harpies... may be i'm a mass murderer)
Burnout is there while GTA isnt? now that is wierd....
Carmageddon II!!!!!! that was my first pc game i ever played
the i got mohaa the good old days
