Any fans of thai boxing and k1?
I've met the world champion, shuki
He was visiting my trainer that has trained him before he left to thailand
One day a friend had said to me that i have Height and Power Necessaries to practice this Sport
But, this sport has too much fisic contact, is some dangerous no?
I have only seen this martial art in the film Ong-Bak and it has some great amount of physical contact. It is not the usual fist-2-fist fight. The elbow knocks are really hard and painful.
I like watching K1.
Semmy Schilt wins 2005 K1 in tokyo. he is a monster. who will beat him?
I train a little Muay Thai, an awesome art, so devastating.
I want to train more to help my stand-up in MMA.
Ong-Bak - very cool film too!
thai boxing is good sport with high spirit
Jiujitsu still rules in MMA. Submission makes Muay Thai primitive in the Octagon. You guys should watch UFC and PRIDEFC. However, when it comes to the streets, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, Jee Kune Do, Aikido and strikes disciplines rules. You can't effectively use submission against three guys. However, in a one on competition like in UFC, submission makes strikes pretty obsolete.
K1 rules and the dutch fighters are the real masters.
14 final Grand prix`s in Tokyo and 12 times a dutchy who won the tournament
I`m proud to be Dutch.

I really think that Thai boxing is one of the sports with most contact and most efficiency. I think that even against some "cleaner" martial sports like karate or jiu-jitsu, it can be really efficient because no space or manover is left to the opponent, a muay thai fighter is ready to take on hard elbows and knees in the face and give some too. I like to watch it although there is some blood

What gives you the idea that karate is cleaner? If you are reffering to average everyday sparring, then you are right, but in actual self-defense, fighting, and "knock-down" fighting, karate is very brutal, and dirty. Elbows and knees are almost always legit in the "knock-down" division. I've seen karate knock-down division tournaments where groin strikes were legal. Also you should keep in mind that different styles of karate are worlds apart in terms of application of techniques, effectiveness, practicality, and efficiency.
If you don't believe karate is dirty, then get a few of your toughest friends and pick a fight with 68 year old katsuoh yamamoto. (Be sure to have somebody on the sidelines to call an ambulance.) You're going to need it.
You've got to admire Muay Thai fighters for their fighting spirit and the way they train. Every martial art has fighters that train hard and have lots of fighting spirit, but I would say that it is more prevalent in Muay Thai. The bad thing, is that a lot of Thai fighters only see Muay Thai as a sport.
