Well, how hard is it to install the applications you mentioned in Ubuntu ? I've been using Ubuntu from the Warty Warthog days, and I've always regarded Ubuntu to be quite easy to use. Firefox is already installed in any Ubuntu desktop installation, Skype ships with an installer that can be used very similar to the Windows installer, nVidia driver is also included (linux-restricted-modules). Use Synaptic to install nvidia-glx and it will automatically install the binary driver. All I see that this person has done is remaster Ubuntu with custom branding and a few additional repositories enabled.

I'd suggest users intent on giving Ubuntu a try, to refer to this site for instructions on how to setup common stuff like java and flash plugins for Firefox, and other similar stuff :
