If you don't have SSH access, ask support to help you:
- Remove the directory /home/jamatu/public_html/forums
- Untar /home/jamatu/fantastico_backups/forums.backup.1132237567.tgz
- Empty the database jamatu_phpb1
- Import the file /home/jamatu/fantastico_backups/forums/backup.sql into the database jamatu_phpb1
- Move /home/jamatu/fantastico_backups/forums to /home/jamatu/public_html/forums

Jason

Just a little doubt...
why can't you do all that yourself ?
you have admin access don't you ? Shocked
Jamatu
I don't have SSH access though? Or do I?

No you don't have ssh, but I was under the impression that you could access directories at the same level as public_html without ssh.

I mean (in your case) you should be able to access /home/jamatu/* and deeper without ssh.

I could do that

Quote:
- Untar /home/jamatu/fantastico_backups/forums.backup.1132237567.tgz

I could download the tgz file untar it and then upload all the files again, it's 1000's of files so would take quite a few hours to upload it all.

- Empty the database jamatu_phpb1

No idea how to do this

I think I can do that

Use the cpanel file manager.
It gives you an option to extracting archives on the server itself.

Tip - You may also want to use the cPanel file manager to move the backup file to the desired new location before extracting.

Use phpmyadmin.
Select the database from the dropdown and a list of all tables within it will appear.
To empty the database, you need to delete (ie., drop) all tables within the database

Use phpmyadmin again.
Select the database from the dropdown and then the link "SQL" from the right hand frame.
You'll get an option to restore the database backup even without untar-ing it first.

Let us know if you are able to do all the steps.
Your account creator/Bondings can assist you if they have time.
Otherwise, you may have to temporarily share your password in order to have me (or somebody else) help you.
