Intro to Economics

Da Rossa
How to get into the world of Economics? I'm a lawyer, and the knowledge I have on Economics is very limited to the high-school History and Geography classes. The law school wasn't helpful either, despite the Law and Economics having a rather close relation to each other. There is even an "economical theory of law".

Maybe there is a classic, international textbook every Economics student should read to get the gist? What do you recommend me?

Thanks!

Good to know too! Added to my list. Seems interesting.

What about the broader subject? Very Happy

This free, open sourced, creative-commons-licensed textbook was "translated" into PDF with a sophisticated undergraduate audience who lacks basic university training in economics in mind - text is easier to digest:

Introduction to Economic Analysis by Professors Preston MCafee and Tracy Lewis

Quote:
Abstract

This book presents introductory economics ("principles") material using standard mathematical tools, including calculus. It is designed for a relatively sophisticated undergraduate who has not taken a basic university course in economics. It also contains the standard intermediate microeconomics material and some material that ought to be standard but is not. The book can easily serve as an intermediate microeconomics text. The focus of this book is on the conceptual tools and not on fluff. Most microeconomics texts are mostly fluff and the fluff market is exceedingly over-served by $100+ texts. In contrast, this book reflects the approach actually adopted by the majority of economists for understanding economic activity. There are lots of models and equations and no pictures of economists.

Dean, thanks a lot. I'll take a look.
I'm open to any further suggestions. Sorry for the long time to give the feedback.

Sometimes I think these economist have got it all wrong. Somehow I think the truth of the matter is we need to study Labour.

Labour( British Spelling) Itself

The storage of labour.

The dissipation due to time and wear and tear.

And the distribution of Labour. (Where it gets stolen by from the actual workers.)
