how to get this sony JUNK off my computer

I recently was doing some security updates and I noticed that Sony's DRM technology is installing rootkits on people's computer's. (see http://www.sysinternals.com/blog/2005/10/sony-rootkits-and-digital-rights.html for details). The first thing I thought of was the CD I recently bought with DRM technology and played on my computer - the new Switchfoot CD. I'm sorry if anyone from Sony is a member here, but I really don't appreciate these already annoying rabid digital rights activists putting MALWARE on my computer. How do I get this crap off my computer? Sony was distributing a tool to do it to people that emailed them, but now they arent taking any emails about it. Can anyone send me a copy of the software that Sony sent them?

The official Sony patch is here: http://cp.sonybmg.com/xcp/english/updates.html but whether it works is question 2. Various sources say it only makes the files visible, but I can't confirm this because I don't have any Sony CDs. Try using Google to get more information.

Not exactly on the subject ...

Arnie, great sign. Linux is awesome compare to Microsoft. If I didn't have to use it (everyone else does including work), I would definitely use Linux.

Cheers.

Microsoft will be updating their AntiSpyware software to remove Sony's DRM software. Until then, try using software such as Spybot or Ad-Aware to remove it. Just update the software before you run a scan and they should be able to remove it.
