Man, the language used in this video is alarming. I'm really not sure how seriously to take it, it seems very hyperbolic, which is a major red flag.
Seems to check out. I think the problem is one we see commonly in science reporting. Basically the scientists do the science and the PR departments do the PR. Sometimes the connection between the two is less than desirable and we get PR press releases that are exaggerated and even, sometimes, grossly misleading. It has happened many times with University PR departments over-hyping recent scientific papers and I think this may be an example of the NASA PR people doing the same. Certainly the claim that it might 'solve the problem' of nuclear fusion is, IMO, massively optimistic.
