I want to create a reminder service on my web-site.
Can anybody tell me how to run a cron job on the server ?
Log-in to cPanel. There is a link for setting up cron jobs under the Advanced header in the cPanel main menu.
cPanel lets you setup cron jobs using a easy to use interface. Or if you are a *nix geek, you can also hand edit the cronjob.
He won't be getting cpanel.
It's directadmin. You have to tell the admin to enable it.
direct admin... has a wrong name,,, it should be "tell to admin before you go direct"...
or
"direct to your admin"
lol

Cron Jobs are disabled in the frih server 2. I don't know why, but you should be able to make the reminder as soon as someone visits the page after the time limit, with php.
I have cronjobs enabled on Frihost server 2. I posted a request to have them enabled in the account changes forum. Then they are under Advanced tools in DirectAdmin. For a php script I believe you need to pass the script to php so something like | Code: |
| /usr/bin/php -q /home/directadminusername/path/to/phpscript.php |
Okay.
Cron jobs are enabled for accounts under Bondings. For the other admins, no, they aren't enabled.
If you want Cron Jobs enabled and you aren't under Bondings, contact the administrator that made your account.
And don't ask why cron jobs aren't enabled for accounts that are not under Bondings.
what does the account under the bondings and account not in the bondings mean?

Bondings is the originator and "Benevolent Dictator for life" of Frihost. Account under Bondings means that Bondings created your account, which I believe is a priviledge.
There are other admins who have the right to create users. Like for example Maka created my account. (Thanks a lot Maka)
