@Deanhills
You found it while I'm searching and you posted here before me.Sad
deanhills
I didn't have to search. I knew exactly where it was. Which was the very first post that Bondings would have made. Angel

I also connected a few times with it in the past when we tried to figure out what the birthday of Frihost was.

Why is it /vp-17.html,what happened to 1-16? Smile

I think deanhills find oldest post but I will give little bit more time for others. Maybe somewhere there are something hidden. Wink

To beat deanhills we would have to somehow get hold of one of the first 16 posts that are missing. I tried using the Wayback Machine but I found nothing. These posts are probably just test posts made by Bondings to see that the forum was working alright before he made it public so they are probably long gone. NSA?

May be Bondings posted some testing post and deleted that.

True, if you read the other posts in the thread I quoted above. Looks as though it was the only thread available of April 2005 as far back as November 2005:

Well, that's the only topic left that's dated in April 2005, and shall be kept for archival reasons.

Aside from Deanhills, who seems to know everything about Frihost history, this contest would have potentially favored those who are able to do selective searches. Early threads can be found by their thread id, presumably vt-<n> where <n> is a small number.

I found posts 221 and 314, and it appears that a lot of the earliest numbers have disappeared, as the quoted "first" thread suggests. The first person who finds a search engine which accepts a regex argument can probably find the second-earliest post. Another possibility is to look for specific months in 2005. I may try that later.

Edit:

I just found http://www.frihost.com/forums/vt-21.html which was posted Apr 26, 2005 by Bondings.
"What is your operating system?"

Surely a good candidate for second place. It generated lively discussion over the next few days. Now we know that at least two of the April 2005 postings survived.

Edit:

Wrong again. It seems that 18, 19, and 20 are also there. All of them were posted by Bondings.

PS. Does this qualify me for an honorable mention in the contest?
deanhills
Could be that some of the oldest posts are in the Staff Forum and we can't see them. I doubt however that any of the 1-16 posts exist any longer.

I sense from the post above by n0obie4life the staff must have had a cleanup of sorts at the time when he had made the post. The staff at that time were buzzing with energy and activity and maybe one of the tasks was to archive/delete some of the posts.

Then of course there is also the possibility of spam as well. Could be spam posts that have been deleted? Wonder what the date of the oldest post in the spam can would be? Razz
