I forgot how to make the icons in the desktop transparent so that it blends in with the wallpaper. Can someone please help??

Well for starters what operating system are you using.
For Windows use WindowsBlinds or Object Desktop.
Mac - no need to do anything (just a simple control panel tweak).
Linux - no idea - try searching Google.

Windows Key + Pause|Break (brings up system properties dialog) ->
Advanced tab -> Performance settings -> "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop"
