I'm not really a fan of Internet Security. It's got too many features we don't need. Just use linux and you wont have viruses.
In my experience, anything Norton will slow down your PC. (just look at those system requirements!)

The benifits and the slowdowns are about even, it's just a matter of preference.
I've tried NAV 2006. It had 15-days for testing purposes, but I've uninstalled after one full scan. Why?

* reaaally slowed down windows
* claimed to be smarter than me >.<

Second thing is the most annoying. This software assumes that I've just bought a pc and I barely know what for the Start menu is. Switching off all those irritating alerts like OMG YOUR VIRUS DEFINITIONS ARE ONE DAY OLD UPDATE NOW! is a nightmare.

Hmm. AVG, XP firewall, Firefox, and a $20 Linksys router.... cost=$20....once!
I tired out the 2005 version. Uses lots of resources and was slow. Used NOD32 and Outpost after that.

No. Linux has it's viruses too.

Let's see, I've used Norton, Mcafee, Trendmicro. I think I'll stick with Mcafee next time.

Norton slowed down my system. That's for sure. Yes, the "Your virus definitions is one day old" is irritating.

At least it irritates you tll you update it and protect yourself Rolling Eyes.
Linux is the way to go. But if you must use Windows, 3 programs keep you in great condition (im online all the time, look at crazy stuff, download stuff, never had a single virus, with very few spyware and adware)

Anyways, its called Zonealarm for the firewall, Spybot - Search and Destroy for the spyware issue, and AntiVir for viruses, all free, all better than the commercial ones. Enjoy!
i've got the feeling that NAV is blocking most of the ports on my computer
