Harnessing the power of cold with peizoelectric crystals?

boinsterman
Has anyone come out with peizoelectric devices triggered by cold? The illustration here is of a clamp with the peizoelectric crystal as material (1). If the side of the clamp, material (2) contracts more due to cold than the crystal or material (4), then the crystal would be squeezed. It is my understanding that a peizoelectric crystal will produce electricity when compressed.

My apologies for the quality of the image. A graphic artist I'm not.

looks quite plausible, and should work even on a mechanically more simple level.
if you have some big objects, like let's say a bridge for a railway or a motorway, which is expanding and shrinking due to the exterior temperature - everytime it changes size fore some inches only, it does so with incredible power and pressures, which could be used to detour some energy. kinetic energy, which can be converted into electricity, of course.

I found several applications..

It seems especially suitable for high temperature.. piezo works without problems at high temperature.

Nice project ! Are you making one ?
