Ready Boost feature in Windows

standready
My latest computer has Windows 7 Pro 64. It has 4 Gb of memory. I thought I would give "Ready Boost" a try since I have 4 Gb flash drive sitting here. In order to get this to work, I had to delete the contents of c:/Windows/Prefetch then set 'SuperFetch' to automatic (search>services.msc>superfetch>automatic) and reboot!
I allocated the entire 4 Gb flash to this function.

I am not seeing much of an improvement. Anyone else try this?

I had seen this on my laptop before but I didn't use it for the following reasons:

1. don't want to have a USB key plugged in at al times because I've only got 4 ports and at work I've got a keyboard, mouse and headset plugged in.

2. I think that the USB drive's life span will be shortened by 50% using it as ADHOC RAM because of the read and write actions.
