create a system image

standready
I was talking with a friend last night. He had again purchased a download version of Microsoft Office for his new computer (old system crashed and burned). Apparently Microsoft offers no protection for the download version. His new system has Windows 7 professional. I suggested he create a complete system image to have on hand in case of hard drive problems. I walked him through the process:
Start>Control Panel>System and Security>Back up your computer: look on left side of screen "Create system image" and follow instructions. DVDs work best for this as it took 8 DVDs for his system.

System image is of your complete hard drive at the time you create verses using "system restore" which put you back to day 1 - no installed software or updates.

I hope this helps others.
